If we’re going to have any chance of saving the life of Alys, we need to catch up with Rune. He and Dorin went off to the Ladea Tower, an ancient place far away and beyond some perilous and impassible seas of quicksand. Walking there is out of the question and we can’t charter a boat to any nearby settlements – come to think of it, I haven’t seen a single port town in the entire game – but fortunately Demi has got our backs. She’s made a Land Rover available to us, an ancient vehicle from an ancient time that couldn’t be more high tech and futuristic if it tried. Fast, all-terrain and heavily armed and armoured, it’s now our go-to choice for getting to places that we haven’t visited yet or can’t teleport to with Chaz’s techs. You may be wondering why I mentioned the vehicle is well armed and that’s because monsters will still try to fight you when you’re travelling around in it. Unlike in other RPGs however we won’t be disembarking to fight, as the vehicle is more than capable enough of obliterating everything that stands in our way through overwhelming firepower the likes of which haven’t been seen on Motavia in nearly a millennia.

While we can try to go straight for the Ladea Tower, it’s still worth it to check out all the places we encounter along the way. Time may be of the essence story-wise, but with the game being event driven we can safely explore side quests and optional locations knowing that the game isn’t going to punish us for it. In fact, I wager the enemies we’ll face in the Ladea Tower are balanced presuming that we take each and ever plot diversion we see.

And besides, who know how much good we can do for the people of Motavia along the way? We may be able to further stalling the inevitable destruction of the planet by finding and shutting down one of the many haywire facilities that are throwing everything out of sync. Demi will be sure to let us know of any as we travel and while we do need to hurry to save Alys, I’ll take any chance to save Motavia we can get.
