Let's Play: The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human - Part 1 - A watery metroidvania
1This is part 1 of my playthrough of The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get shot into space, go through a time eddy, come back to earth only to find millions of years have passed, humanity is extinct, and the world is now completely covered in an ocean full of giant and deadly creatures? Well good news! This game might be for you!
You play as The Last Human who comes back to Earth to find it very different. And somewhat hostile. Your job, such that it is now, is to wander around and find out what happened to everyone before the end. To do that you'll have to unlock abilities for your sub, navigate a labyrinthian cave system of various biomes, and fight some obnoxiously large and difficult sea life. The game is a flavour of metroidvania that takes a page from Dark Soul's book. There's not really any combat outside of boss battles, and the boss battles are big and difficult. Your little sub will have to find upgrades and new abilities in order to unlock new areas.
You will die, a lot.
It's a very interesting idea for a game, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else the depths have in store for me. I'm digging the aesthetic, and the game plays well, even if it is frustratingly difficult at times.
