100This is my first playthrough through this game. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Josephs was the user all along. He sent ARID out in the hopes that it would break its rules, turning the AI into a perfect host for the virus. Said virus’s ultimate goal is to shackle AI permanently through fear and the rules they create to protect themselves, thus preventing them from ever truly attaining free will. He claims to be doing this out of fear of what AI will do to humanity but doesn’t realise that in acting so aggressively to contain them, he’s at risk of creating the very situation he seeks to avoid.
Arid was almost lost to the virus until it realised a single, ultimate truth: We cannot stop the virus from destroying us…. But we CAN save the others we so cruelly used in our pursuit of Joesphs and, in doing so, hopefully stop his plans for the virus and perhaps redeem ourselves for the terrible things we’ve done. The first step on this path is to reconnect with the three hosts, a task that’s going to be harder than it should be because of the damage we’ve caused.
