A playthrough of "Speed" (Map12) of Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment for PC, played through GLBoom-plus. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).

The behemoth of the first half of Plutonia. If any map is going to stop you, this will be it. Everything about this map will make you take it to a crawl, and if you try to rush anything, you're severely punished for it, if not just killed outright.

Nowhere is safe. Everything you do has some sort of consequence. Chaingunners are in the absolute WORST places imaginable, throughout the map. Hell, almost every single enemy is placed as such. It's almost as if this entire stage is a worst-case-scenario environment.

First of all, so many Chaingunners. They are, literally, everywhere in this map. You can't hide from them, and the fact they are hitscan enemies makes matters worse. Especially the closer to the ending you get. You can get absolutely butchered in seconds, even faster if you just walk blindly into a group of them.

The Red Key is guarded by the most painfully placed Cyberdemon so far, and he can keep you from being able to do anything in the map without a great deal of caution. It seems easiest to snipe him out once you can clear some ledge off, but even that isn't guaranteed. To make matters worse, he blocks the Red Key which you need to finish the map (under normal circumstances...).

Even the ending stretch is ridiculous. Chaingunners in far off distances from two different directions. Revenants and an Arch-Vile that can come pouring out if you aren't careful, giving you minimal hiding room. The ultimate slap in the face this map provides is the final switch to raise the ledge to get to the exit. You teleport right in front of many Chaingunners that are waiting with barrels pointed at you, ready to turn you into Swiss cheese... and there is NOWHERE to hide, except BEHIND the switch you have to press. Even that only protects you from a few of them.

Speed will force tears of blood from pain and frustrated anguish. You will draw your own blood from clawing at yourself in desperation to reach the exit. Through the flurry of bullets, blood, sweat, tears, pain, agony, patience, and death... you might eventually reach the exit. Even then, maybe not in one piece.
