Let's Play: The Plutonia Experiment - Map10 - Onslaught
A playthrough of "Onslaught" (Map10) of Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment for PC, played through GLBoom-plus. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).
And this is the turning point for Plutonia. Definitely. Everything from here is going to get to the point of gruelingly difficult. More difficult scenarios, tougher traps, more powerful enemies, less hiding space, and so on and so forth.
This map starts out barraging you with pain, from start to finish. You have a Chaingunner starting BEHIND you who likes to start shooting you at the start. The Blue Key sparks tons of Chaingunners and a few Cacodemons to join the party. If you just ignore the enemies and run straight to the back where the Baron is and drop into the sewer-like section, and then work your way back to the Yellow Key... you can drop them all together.
What's cheap here is that you have Chaingunners that seem to want to live forever. If you bother with what I called "Chaingunner Alley" and attempt to kill them all, they just stand right back up without a second thought. Can't keep a good dog down, they say. Those same Arch-Viles are the two that run around and attack you while you have no place to hide from them. It makes things extremely hectic, especially when you're trying to run past them all and you have more demons teleporting in on top of you.
The rest of the map is simply a huge clustered mess of demons attacking each other and exploding from your rockets as they hopefully drop dead. The Pain Elementals are the priority here as they can actually fly into the area with the Red Key and cause you to blow yourself up. Your best bet is to run for it and pray.
