249We’ve seen much of Britain already but there’s still more of the city left to explore. To use the word ‘city’ to describe this place is being generous however, for it’s not much larger than a village. It’s never been especially big in any of the games but the place has shrunk significantly between VII and IX. When and why that happened we’ll never be told and there are no ruins or signs that the place was ever larger than it is, but we know otherwise.
While you could very easily ignore talking to all the NPCs within Britain, doing so means that you skip out on clues which help paint the picture of what’s going on. While the game does a good job of telling you the important things as part of the main plot, the other things you can pick up allow you to do some investigations of your own to get to the bottom of what’s wrong. Whether there’s any extra dialogue waiting for you when you do this is a coin toss in Ultima IX but it’s always best to check. It might end up leading to a quest you’d otherwise miss.
