While we aren’t sure exactly how the strange columns that sprung up out of the ground are corrupting Britannia and its people, we know what the end result of their evil magic is. The power of the virtues is being twisted into their opposites which has subtly affected the people who live in the lands, turning their hearts away from virtue. We can therefore conclude that the Guardian plans to slowly weaken the lands by sowing dissent and chaos amongst its people, biding his time until he can easily conquer the world that has eluded his grasp for so long. Our best chance of stopping this is by going to the dungeon Despise which is near one of these sinister columns. Perhaps there we can glean clues about their workings and even if we can’t, it’s not a bad place to shake off the rust on our adventuring skills and get some loot.

The Guardian hoped that we would feel anger at seeing what has happened to Britannia and we certainly are annoyed. Far from the Avatar despairing however, he remains resolute in restoring virtue and saving the people from the corruption which has took hold within their souls. The Guardian should have let Blackthorn incinerate Stonekeep and the Avatar with it, thus ensuring that his plan went without a hitch, but instead held his wrath. Perhaps there was a reason he spared the Avatar’s life that goes beyond typical villain hubris, though if the Guardian will tell us is another matter.
