Now that we have access to a rocket launcher, the odds of our survival have grown a little better. Our ammunition for the weapon still isn’t plentiful and I doubt we’ll ever be drowning in missiles unless the game gives us to them moments before a hugely difficult challenge, but having the option is better than not. It’ll make the levels going forward a tiny bit easier, at least that’s the hope.

Meanwhile, the game continues to ratchet up the difficulty at a steady pace by throwing us into one perilous situation after another, surrounded on all sides by foes and giving us little room to work with. Every time that happens, my first thought is to locate a more defensible position and eliminate the most dangerous of threats first, unless there are pain elementals, whereupon they are the top priority for obvious reasons. More important than all of that however is to be ready to dodge at a moments notice, be it from projectiles of melee attacks. Awareness of your surroundings is critical, noting the locations of enemies in the moments you’re looking at them before you duck and weave away from getting riddled with hitscan pellets and blasts of plasma. It’s a lot harder than it sounds but over time, you’ll get the hang of it.

Whether that’s enough to survive is another matter, especially in this game.
