We may not have been a saboteur at the start of the game, but we certainly deserve the title now. We’ve halted production of the pipes in the factory and took the body of a welding robot, causing delays that will have a knock-on effect on the rest of the city. We’re going to be causing a lot more damage before we’re done and while we’re going to try and avoid hurting those that don’t deserve it, there’s only so much we can do in that regard. Having been brought to Union City against our will and now with us being hunted down, we have little choice but to do what we can to escape.

The first step to us escaping is reaching ground level, a movement in status as well as distance. Going up in the world involves going down as someone we’ll meet later will tell us, bring us to progressively nicer looking locations. Notice that I said nicer looking and not nicer; despite the aesthetics of our surroundings becoming nicer, despite the increase in comfort, amenities and luxuries, it’s still Union City. We’re still trapped beneath a sky of steel and smog, stuck in a place where your worth is determined by your LINC status and nothing else. This won’t change no matter how close to ground level we are and only by escaping can we be free of the system, so let’s try not to be distracted by prettier surroundings and keep our eyes on the prize, freedom.

This game was declared freeware in 2003 and so is free for anyone to download and play. If you wish to play the game yourself, here’s a good place to download it from:
