Let’s Play Commander Keen IOTV #14: Vorticon Ninjas, Enough Said
120Due to interruptions in recording, there are one of two cuts during this video. I have done my best to make them as difficult to notice as possible and can only apologise for them.
Out of all the enemies we’ve faced, I’d say that the vorticon ninja edges out the vorticon elite in terms of dangerousness by just a bit and that’s all because you encounter the ninjas a lot more than we ever did the elites. Additionally, the elites tended to be either in optional locations or at the end of the level while the ninjas are scattered all over the place, lying in wait to kick Keen out of the level and back to the very beginning sans one life. In large open spaces their unpredictable jump heights can throw you off guard and in cramped locations they can close the distance between you quickly. Only your reactions being even quicker and a little luck will ensure victory.
Speaking of victory, we’ve not had much of that recently. The levels we have left are the most challenging we’ve ever faced and they’ll chew through all our lives if we’re not careful. I’d like to say that I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen but I’m not sure we can, for there are so many threats in the levels we’ve seen a bit of that we haven’t faced, threats that will surely cost us a few more lives before we’re through. We’re not going to give up though, not after getting all this way. We’ll just have to be even more careful and hope that’ll be sufficient to see us through.
