For PART 2 of our LETS TRY LINUX series, I take a closer look at LINUX MINT 19.3, within the CINNAMON DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT.

MINT is a DISTRO that will be more familiar to those who are used to WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS, featuring a taskbar at the bottom, tiled menus and a DESKTOP that you can pin files and software shortcuts to. Of course, being LINUX, it's FREE and OPEN SOURCE and is designed to be a 'modern, elegant and comfortable OPERATING SYSTEM which is both powerful and easy to use.'

MINT comes in three FLAVOURS, CINNAMON, MATE and XFCE. In this video, we'll be looking at MINT in the CINNAMON FLAVOUR, which is the one which will offer the most comprehensive DESKTOP experience. However, MATE offers a performance that is still feature rich whilst being lighter, and XFCE, the lightest of the FLAVOURS, is designed around performance and speed over features.

Those who are familiar with UBUNTU will be able to make the transition to MINT easily enough, as it uses most of the same architecture to run the system.

All-in-all, LINUX MINT is a solid OPERATING SYSTEM, which runs smoothly and looks nice and familiar. For those wanting the benefits of LINUX but the UI of WINDOWS, MINT may be the DISTRO for you.
