Lets Try Linux - Part 6: Ubuntu MATE 18.04.4

In this one, I take a brief look at UBUNTU MATE, which is a community developed project to repackage Ubuntu within the MATE DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT.
The benefits of this is that it's lighter and less taxing on the system, and allows people to get away from GNOME, which Ubuntu comes with by default. Still, the MATE environment comes packaged with a good set of software and customisation options, allowing you to revert to the UBUNTU GNOME layout, utilise a dock like a MAC OS or even construct a classic WINDOWS DESKTOP metaphor, which is what I end up doing in this video.
UBUNTU MATE is perfect for those wanting the accessibility of UBUNTU whilst wanting a more familiar desktop experience -- ideal if you're coming from WINDOWS or MAC. The customisation is made easy through MATE Tweak and on the whole, this DISTRO runs smoothly, even on limited software. I set it up on a VM with 12gb of disk space and 4gb of RAM and I still saw decent performance.
Overall, UBUNTU MATE is a really solid choice for a wide variety of users, whether you're new to LINUX or a seasoned UBUNTU user looking for a new take on the system. I didn't find UBUNTU MATE too pleasing aesthetically, but there were a few options which definitely gave me ideas for my own custom build when I come to making it.
