Oh yes, we get into the last couple "Big" puzzles... because once we tie up this one and the next one, the only "Big" is in fact "Large"... for reasons that I won't geek out over on subjects both serious and nonserious, because I rather suppose there was enough of that the first time around.

But anyway, what about that excessive running time?! I mean, the original Big Checker was among the shortest of them all, beating out all but the very earliest ones... including the Small Checker, for crying out loud... something's not right here!

Actually, this time I went to the trouble of indulging a curiosity that only came up rather curiously late into the process... and not exactly something you can test out on every puzzle to wander along. The interesting thing about checkers is that they naturally occur in tandem... that is, for the one color to be checkered, the off color must also be there to grant it relief. So what would happen if you fulfilled the required shape in both tones at the same time?

So, I spent quite a bit of time chucking aside pieces so that I could make sure that the clear I wanted would be under the precise circumstances I wanted... clearing only one Big Checker in a pass of the clear line would clearly be no good for my experimental purposes... Well, the results are rather less exciting than I would've hoped... but that's one great mystery of Lumines-laden life resolved, right?
