Okay, this is it again... and, no, there's not another set of x3 puzzles waiting in the wings. Consider the kudos (and/or threats) from the fiftieth and the reaffirmations attached to the "final exam" locked in and official. You're just minutes away from graduating from this little Lumines Puzzle Mode correspondence course. Your diploma will get lost in the mail shortly for lack of ever having corresponded up to this point. Thank you!

Puzzle 52: Large O x2

Once again... this puzzle just... doesn't feel like it manages to do the whole mode the proper justice it ought to deserve.

Of course, that doesn't mean you get to take it lightly... it's just that the basic kernel of this one is just an easier and more controlled version of the 4x4 with the x2 on top, just as it always was.

It's still a pretty annoying case of space management, and accidentally damaging my second construction site had the interesting and unforeseen consequence of making repair and sanitation of the original site (as clumsy as that process ended up being) the more attractive proposition.

Oh, and for the sake of having done so and being able to definitively state the fact of the situation... if you make a Big Square... while technically it should look like it qualifies for a Large O on account of obeying the "no touching" rule, it seems is the one case in the whole game where the negative space is also checked for correctness... so no, you can't have a single tile on the interior 3x3 space that isn't the off-color. I mean, I always assumed so, since that's the only way this differs from a previous puzzle... so it makes sense, but in hindsight the rules seem to be overridden for a very specific case.

As a parting gift from Puzzle Mode, you will receive the Prime Factor skin. I haven't really decided how I'm going to get to these special newcomers that obviously won't come up in the other major modes, but I have some ideas percolating on the back burner that might serve our needs in more ways than one... stay tuned... sometime...! Yeah!
