1As we delve deeper into Curse of the Dead Gods, in this episode ComradeBeric in chat decides that I should throw myself at some traps. So it's time to go into the Mad Temple. A place where any responsible person would avoid, but this is not a game about a responsible person (how did we get stuck here again?). In this event dungeon, every single possible idol or object that CAN be a trap is ACTIVATED. This plays nicely for my desire to use the perk that increases trap damage -- I just need to avoid getting hit myself. Hopefully I can dig far enough to get more Crystal Skulls. There's a lot of stuff I want to unlock.

Curse of the Dead Gods is a game that has taken me by surprise and leaves Early Access on February 23, 2021. This is an action roguelike with a top down isometric view that borrows systems from a lot of different games. Enjoy permanent progression from Hades? Got it. Enjoy a Slay the Spire style map where you can plan ahead on your run? It's in the game. Methodical combat involving limited stamina similar to the Fromsoft Souls games? Absolutely. How about torch management like in Darkest Dungeon? You didn't even know you wanted that in this game, but you do. There's even a whole Corruption system that most will compare to Darkest Dungeon, but to be honest in implementation it feels a lot more like Eternal Darkness. The thing that gets me though? It all works, and works very well.
