This is the most difficult level to run so far, no question about it. There are a lot of enemies and projectiles flying around, not to mention the level geometry is a bit more challenging to traverse.

I keep using recoil from both shotgun and railgun while moving around for maximum efficiency. This is pretty hard to do since you have to operate d-pad along all the other buttons at a regular basis. But just normal shotgun boosting wouldn't have cut it here, so I had to evolve my tactics.

Having now spent a week or two with Matterfall, here's a short list of pros and cons of it as a speed game:

Pros:
+ completed runs look fast-paced and stylish.
+ it's a Finnish indie game, which feels a bit endearing personally.

Cons:
- terrible loading times between each attempt (40+ seconds).
- the game has problem with input. Sometimes shotgun boosts or jumps fail for seemingly no reason.
- takes a lot of effort to learn a single level (and I'm a lazy slob).
- won't get much attention or views.

I'm not sure if I'll continue making these individual level runs or move on to something else. My most important goal of demonstrating some new tactics has been achieved already, so...

Assorted comments:

0:09 - after landing, the hero is stuck in place for a second or two because of the great fall. I jump to get out of it sooner.

0:31 - mistake. Get stuck against the wall for a moment.

1:09 - mistake. Dash too early, it hits the wall.

1:14 - mistake. My plan was to get hit by the projectiles early to double jump + dash up the tall wall. But for some reason double jump didn't come out, so I had to waste a second before finally managing to do that.

1:18 - the route I take here is to avoid getting hit by enemies as they spawn. (On my first runs I had problem with health here.) Overall, this part could probably be faster.

1:21 - you could probably use one or two extra railgun boosts in this following part. I think this run played things a bit safe.

1:25 - really annoying high jump. You have to be fast to get through the enemies before they materialize, and if your jump angle wasn't good, you won't reach the upper platform.

1:33 - have to do two high jumps in a row with projectiles flying around. Ugh!

1:38 - and the level only gets worse from there with the finale with lasers and enemies all over the place. My main goal is to get through the first corridor without taking more than 2 damage, which can be accomplished with at least a few different ways.

1:46 - some more rapid-fire high jumps.

1:53 - I usually have problems with health here, so I try to shoot at least one of the laser orbs out of the way.
