Max Payne 3 any% (easy) RTA in 2:30:25
My newest Max Payne 3 run. I think I'm now happy with this category, as the run contains no particularly big mistakes and the gameplay is smoother than ever too (although it could still be smoother).
I really should have done this run a month ago already, but I got distracted by something else and ended up taking a break from Max Payne 3. Flavy beating my 2:34 run a few days ago was definitely an inspiration for me to get back on track, so kudos for that.
As for new tactics, I went to restart future data to Chapter 2-7 instead of 1-7 and may have won a few seconds from that. (However, after finishing this run I found out that you can restart future data even faster by going to Chapter 11-8 and playing the piano there. Using that tactic might have saved an extra 8-10 seconds during the run.)
I also picked up a grenade launcher in Chapter 13 since it works really well with some of the fights there.
My sum of best is around 2:25 at the moment. Who knows how low Max Payne 3 could go with a determined enough grind?

About short intro:
There is something called "short intro" that was recently introduced to Max Payne 3 runners by the leaderboards mod DanielTheAssassin1. It's a separate file you're supposed to replace the normal intro of the game with inside the Max Payne 3-folder. Any runners using short intro get a 3+ minute advantage compared to those who don't use it.
I didn't use the "short intro". There are a few reasons for that:
First is that there's practically no info online about the true nature of the short intro. DanielTheAssassin1 claimed that Rockstar support has verified that the short intro is a legitimate part of an older version of Max Payne 3 (1.0.0.114?). But I can't personally know for sure. To me, the short intro looks like a broken video file and I can't understand why Rockstar would intentionally patch something like that to their game.
Even if the file was indeed a legitimate part of the old patch, mixing and matching files from different patches to gain advantage in a speedrun crosses some line for me. It seems underhanded. Maybe I'm just not accustomed to solutions like this since I've always been a console runner before this, but still.
So that's why I didn't use it.
