Max Payne 3 - melee + retry glitch (new technique)
Another way to mess up checkpoints around the game! Here are results from all Chapter 1 checkpoints.
Basically, run up to an enemy. Choose to retry from checkpoint, and quickly attempt to melee the enemy as the screen goes dark. This causes Max to appear at the previous checkpoint in the melee pose (depending on what weapon he used), frozen in place. His guns are floating in air and jacket is deformed more often than not. Some actors may not spawn in the level. Time is also slowed down and in 90% of the cases the game does not continue afterwards and even retrying won't help - each subsequent retry starts with this glitch active. So you have to quit to main menu to continue.
It would be interesting to take the permanent slow motion effect to normal gameplay, but so far it hasn't been possible to continue playing as Max with the time slowed down.
This glitch doesn't work in every checkpoint for some reason, though. In some Chapters it hardly seems to work while elsewhere, like in Chapter 1, it works just fine.
I also noticed that you can carry Last Man Standing or death over a checkpoint by getting critical damage after choosing to retry. Some vids of those variations also come sooner or later. Bullet Cam can also be carried over a checkpoint retry, but for some reason the effects it creates are almost not noticeable.
