Max Payne 3 - glitches and observations pt. 2
Miscellaneous finds and documentations from the first three chapters.
0:00 - just another of those pre-cutscene graphic rendering glitches that shows the environment mostly invisible.
0:13 - if Max dies right as you retry from last checkpoint at C1-C8, upon retry he spawns gun-less. This part of the game is unwinnable without a gun, but the glitch becomes fixed with some extra retries or deaths.
0:39 - a level select glitch result at C2-C6. Max flails around wildly as he breaks out of the small cutscene at the start of the checkpoint.
0:49 - I got this alternative result when retry glitching at C2-C7. The result was different possibly because I had not loaded this checkpoint from main menu but had instead played up to this point through the restaurant.
Instead of Max falling like a ragdoll, he is in the sniper pose. Passos is also standing close by. The helicopter is falling but in a different location from Max and Passos. Finally, after having fallen all the way down Max does not stand upright with his arms contorted - instead the game just softlocks.
1:31 - Max does some breakdance-esque motions at C2-C2 at the end of the bullet-time flight. This is not normal, is it? I did the Last Man Standing + retry glitch right before filming these clips, so who knows if that caused these small break-outs in Max's animations.
1:52 - a short test with death + retry at C2-C5. Doing this causes the cooking pot to stay in focus during the quit / retry screen, as if you had unlocked a secret Cooking Mama-esque mini-game.
2:17 - findlestick noted this glitch earlier but didn't show it on film, so here it is. You can glitch the elevator prompt at C3-C3 by retrying almost at the same time as starting the elevator. This causes a pretty severe visual effect during the cutscenes. Eventually Max reaches the next area while the game still thinks you're at the C3-C3 fight. Passos, being the useless load he is, gets killed and it's a game over. Or: he would get killed, but the game over cutscene can glitch up and nothing happens in it. You get a game over regardless after a long wait.
3:27 - a clip of a random zipping effect I accidentally did with Max.
3:37 - I retry glitched at C3-C8 first cutscene. Although I thought my timing was poor, I got a glitch effect where the next cutscene started shortly after the checkpoint restarted. This caused the game to progress otherwise normal, but the gate in front of Max that is normally open was locked.
4:08 - some extra sightseeing after having glitched the 2nd elevator prompt up. After arriving upstairs, the elevator you're in barely has a floor so you are able to fall down to the lower floor. There's a guy standing in t-pose in there. Max's arm is currently glitched. If you choose to dual-wield, Max shoots with only one gun but holds both of his arms out, as if holding two guns. Doors out of the elevator room are locked, so you can't explore much. There is also a duplicated elevator gate cluttering the area.
