Good morning gamers and welcome to Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming everyday! Professor Stu here for what is probably the final video for Mega Man X3. This video happens to correspond to earning the "X-Treme Danger" achievement on the Mega Man X Legacy Collection as well by defeating Kaiser Sigma without the Hyper Chip. We went a step further and did it without the Beam Saber which also means Zero is still alive since we don't use him for anything else than a Mosquitus kill in a normal playthrough.

Anyways, this stage is entirely identical to the other version with Bit/Byte/Vile Mk. 2 kills during the Maverick stages with the exception that X is significantly weaker without the other three armor chip upgrades nor the one-shot-kill weapon for this game: the Beam Saber. I have the Energy chip simply to make it much easier to refill the Sub Tanks throughout the Doppler Stages but it is not necessary to have it either.

So run through the stage and climb the big wall to get to Sigma who is armed with a shield and a cannon that shoots flaming balls at X. It is possible to kill him both without the Spinning Blade (his weakness) or without getting hit but I didn't want to practice enough to dodge all of his shots. He jumps around the screen and shoots a series of fireballs at X from one of the three locations he stops at and occasionally throws his shield at X as well. The shield does more damage so avoid it if possible. Try not to hit the shield with your attacks as Sigma will not be damaged if you do. As long as you do not use more than one Sub Tank fighting his first form then you are in good shape for Kaiser Sigma. If you need a second or third then you probably need more practice anyways and may as well just let him kill you.

Kaiser Sigma and Doppler both claim that his battle body is made from the special abilities of other reploids but if you watch what weapons he actually has, it seems more that his abilities were taken directly from Bit and Byte (the magnet mines and hover abilities), Vile Mk. 2 (the triple missile launcher), and Mother Brain (the shoulder cone weapon)?!?! Why the final boss from Super Metroid I don't know, but that game is amazing as well.

Avoid the missiles and the shoulder beam and Sigma should go down easily. Of course the hardest part is hitting his pathetically small head past his shoulder pads but if you are trying this achievement then you should be well prepped for it anyways. Take him down and then prepare for the long climb up while being chased by lava. Don't die here as you will have to fight both forms of Sigma again if you do.

After reaching the dead end after escaping, then Zero will break through the ceiling instead of Doctor Doppler and will apply the Sigma Antivirus. Sigma will spout some nonsense about Zero's destiny being to follow him (how that works when Zero was built first I don't know and don't know if that was ever actually answered in the series) and then he confirms what many (myself included) had presumed to this point that Zero is indeed Proto Man from the Mega Man series! Zero at this point is not really like Proto Man who sometimes helps and sometimes hinders Mega Man but is a full-on protaganist.

With the supposed demise of Sigma once again, X and Zero are free to escape Doppler's Lab (but apparently he does not as he doesn't make another appearance) and rush headlong into the credits! Enjoy seeing the differences in power and speed levels as they will become even larger in the future. Yet another Mega Man X game is down and done, off to the next game!
