Mega Man X5 Boss Rush - Minimalist/No Damage (Part II)
Part II of my X5 Minimalist Boss Rush
Individual Boss Comments:
Duff McWhalen - Still dumbfounded by how anyone could come up with such an awful name for a boss. McWhalen is a joke like usual, with only his third phase providing a small annoyance when decides to start being erratic with his timing. He probably tastes fuckin' delicious though.
Grizzly Slash - Long. Drawn out. Boring. Easy.
Dynamo Round II - Still easy. But at least the music's nice. Also I promise the last few bosses of this and all the fights in Part III will give me more to talk about. Promise.
Izzy Glow - Told you. This guy's a pain in the ass, Izzy moves around the room in such a fashion that calling it erratic would undermine how much of a pain in the ass it is to be caught by him while trying to shoot him. It becomes 3x worse when he starts whizzing around the room under half health, and his speed is doubled. He also has a particularly nasty variation on the firefly laser. The tracking version and the horizontal laser are non-issues, but the vertical one requires specific placement or else you can't avoid it. Problem is, since he often goes into it straight after a sequence of teleports and with little warning, it's very easy to get caught by. Luckily his actual desperation attack is a joke.
Squid Adler - The hardest of the eight, and surprisingly enough, the one bosses that took the most tries of anyone in the challenge, even the bosses in Part III. Adler starts off calm, but once things get going, they really get going. Through the fight Adler is CONSTANTLY on X's ass, and will tail you for as long as he sees fit. This makes the fight incredibly dangerous as he can do it while you're still trying to get around the incomprehensible amount of shit he throws at you. Whether he's electrifying the floor, firing electrical orbs which make the walls highly unsafe, or spawning those fucking blocks. When the normal blocks are occupying space, I'm happy as can be; now I have a somewhat reliable way of escaping a crowded wall. When he creates an electrical block, I'm fucking pissed. Now I have a giant obstacle floating in the room that makes a good portion of the space I have to maneuver even more dangerous. The worst part is his desperation attack, which litters the fucking walls in electrical orbs. He also loves to plow right into you before positioning himself to do it, which is pretty soul crushing given how low health he has to be to use it. All in all, this is a fucking mess, and came after a ridiculous amount of retries. Nice to have it done though.
