Mega Man X5 Boss Rush - Minimalist/No Damage (Part I)
Remember when I said X5's boss rush would be much more challenging? Yeah. This is a boss rush of Mega Man X5 using the bare essentials; X is not allowed to take damage and uses only the X-Buster. In addition, he cannot equip parts or use armors, and all bosses are fought on Xtreme Mode. These restrictions may not have been enough to make X4 anything more than slightly time consuming, but with X5's multitude of involved boss patterns, massive health bars, and unarmored X's lack of mobility, this was significantly more trying than the X4 version, and a lot more fun as well.
Individual Boss Comments:
Dark Dizzy - Not exactly starting off with a winner here. As should be plain to see, Dark Dizzy isn't really challenging. At all. Which is fitting given his inspiration, Shade Man, is also jokingly easy. So consider this some revenge for forcing me to break my minimalist rules during my Mega Man 7 no slide boss rush.
Axl the Red - This guy's actually pretty tough. Axl goes through a lot of specific motions in his three phases and you'll need to be ready for all of them if you don't want to get hit. The spike balls in his first phase aren't too bad, but the clones love to put you in positions where they can easily corner X and his rose petals are troublesome too. Mostly the aspect of him plowing into you while you're trying to jump off the wall after avoiding the petals. That's not really fun.
Dynamo - Dynamo is a man plucked fresh from the 80s. What he doesn't seem to realize is that we're in the new millennium and his fancy tricks amount to jack shit under any circumstance or restriction.
The Skiver - It's funny that this guy was inspired by Storm Eagle's presence in Mega Man Xtreme, because it's clear that the same amount of effort they put into that game was put into The Skiver.
Mattrex - Now this is a battle to end on. Everything about this guy is fucking awesome. His design and name are cool, his stage is fun, and his fight is intense. Mattrex may be a pattern heavy fight, but that can only matter so much when he's throwing himself around the fucking room like a madman. His attacks demand specific and precise positioning to not get plowed into and Mattrex also LOVES to break from his pattern and just run into you. None of these aspects are helped by how long the fight is at Level 96.
