Mega Man X5 (Zero) PSX, No Damage challenge/speedrun of The Skiver's stage on Xtreme Mode. In this playthrough, I achieve the MMH/MEH rank in the end.

I have the Mega Man X5 Improvement patch applied, which I mainly used to shut Alia up. You can download the patch here: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3711/

More details: In this no damage run, I'm not using Zero's SDC (Saber Dash Cancel) and instead am using other cancel techniques, such as crouch and jump cancels. It's very similar to SDC, just that it requires more finger work with the D-pad and is more technical than SDC. If you want to learn more about the techniques I use during this run, watch this video: https://youtu.be/rfPZxWnpSbs

Stage Overview:

Okay, so Skiver's stage starts off REALLY good and fast paced until the dreaded auto-scrolling makes it's stupid return. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First, let's dissect the first portion of the stage. It's nothing too complicated, as Twin Dream makes destroying both enemies and bombs an effortless task. Still, you do need to time your F-Splashers and C-Swords right while Twin Dream's active, or else you'll create complications for yourself. This is the stage where Twin Dream does get to shine, as I show off just how versatile it is with the extended range and hitboxes are mimicked from the special attack you use with it. It's still a lot of careful platforming, but you livin' the dream with this skill backing you up.

So, the fun stops here. Auto-scrolling BS that has no business being there and just adds more time to the already-ticking clock. Skiver is literally a terrible stage to do later on if you're trying to get MMH rank, as it's unavoidable to clear this stage in under two minutes, and you're CERTAINLY not getting it in one, if that wasn't obvious enough, lmao. The auto-scrollers aren't very noteworthy and just wastes time. Nothing more, nothing less. Moving on.

The Skiver Overview:

Another lackluster fight, to be honest. Skiver doesn't really do much, and he's victim to some very pattern-based behavior that bites him later in the fight. RNG does determine if he'll do a W-Shredder or not, but for the most part, he follows a linear pattern of just dashing at you two times, flies up, dives back down, dash again, then do his cycle of random Storm Eagle-esque dashes. F-Splashers make dealing with those a non-issue. Then after that, he'll just spam whirlwinds, then repeat the pattern. Like I said, he can mix this up with W-Shredders (the after image move) sometimes, but it's easy to tell when he'll do it: he'll just pause on the ground for like two seconds before unleashing it. An easy double jump or well-timed jump over it makes this a non-issue as well.

Number of attempts to No Damage this stage: 8
