WARNING: Intro may cause seizures to those sensitive to flashing lights!

Anyway, the intro for this game reminds me of an iPod commercial, lol. It's pretty awesome, but the game as a whole is something of an acquired taste. MTG: Last Bible S (Special) feels like a child born of Megami Tensei and Wizardry. It's a bit closer to the 16-Bit MT titles for Super Famicom than the more childish games within the Last Bible/ Demi-Kids series.

The events of "Last Bible Special" take place in an alternate Middle East in the beginning of the Christian era. You play as Materu, a young warrior who gets an assignment from the bishop of Jerusalem to travel to four dungeons. The demon king Graias is controlling other demons who found their hideout in those dungeons, and it's your task to defeat them.

In the town, you can recruit human warriors at the town square and do some shopping, but when you leave town, you head off into one of four dungeons that you visit in a set order. The dungeons are "3D" and played in first-person. Like other MT games, you can also recruit monsters by talking to them.

You can also fuse monsters together once Materu acquires the spell to combine monsters (I think at level 2) which lets you mix two monsters into one...and the monsters you get can vary depending on the phase of the moon. The game still deals with "Gaia", a kind of power or "art", mainly in the Last Bible series. Those with the powers of Gaia usually can invoke the power of magic. Talking to monsters usually gets you involved with stating your beliefs in the principals of Gaia and depending on what you believe (or say you believe), you can get monsters to join or get angry and they get the first attack.

This game...can be pretty hard at spots and somewhat easy at other spots. I have this "Wave" spell...takes over 100 damage to all enemies...doesn't seem to cost any MP. I'm ASSUMING there is a drawback somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Healing magic is always useful too, especially since some enemies are just overpowered.

Gameplay seems sort of broken from what I've played too. While wave is ridiculously strong for when you get it, other magic like "Agi", "Bufu", "Zan" (from other LB/MT/SMT games) seem really weak...I mean, come on. Regular attacks with my wizard are weak and take 35, but Agi takes 12!? Bufura (higher level Bufu) takes 33??? It may be a programming thing...BUT, when I tried Bufura on a wolfman, it instantly died. Those kinds of elements spells I'm ASSUMING only do good damage if you use it on those in which it is effective. With that in mind, they may not be completely useless, but seem more like a nuisance, since you will waste a lot of time to find the one element that may or may not hurt each and every single monster.

I'm not quite sure what to think about this game. Graphics are good, music would be pretty good...BUT the battle theme sucks sooooo much. Why couldn't it be the same as the intro music? Be prepared to spend a lot of time with this one...high encounter rate, tedious enemies, lots of dying, pretty typical stuff from a dungeon crawler and probably for Megami Tensei fans. I bought this game a while ago on eBay for about $10. Enjoy
