Slider is a pretty cool puzzle game for the Sega Game Gear and that's good to know...because the Game Gear needed some quality puzzle games besides Puyo Puyo. You'll notice on the title screen that it says "Loriciel" on it...why does that sound familiar? It may sound familiar if you've played a game called Jim Power, which is said to be one of the hardest games ever made. Slider isn't quite as cruel and it has passwords, but expect to spend quite a bit of time fighting your way through the 99 stages of the game.

The visuals are pretty nice and colorful for an old GG title and the music, what little there is, doesn't distract you too much. It's mildly entertaining. The game has a lot of different items, including power-ups (upgrading your weapon, speeding you up, etc.) to icons that blow up parts of the level to little teddy bear-like things you collect. The idea of the game is to walk over all the tiles on a level, turning them pink/red along the way and dealing with enemies. There are tiles that warp you, tiles that break when stepped on (which can cause your little pal to die by falling in a pit), tiles that explode in a 3x3 radius (if you don't scurry to a safe tile, you fall in a pit), arrows that can slow you down or speed you up, and more.

The game plays like a pretty casual and classic puzzler and it's a quality game for the GG. Enjoy.
