Metroid Fusion Minimalist/No Damage Run - Part 13: Sector 4 (AQA) 2nd visit and Secret Message
Secret Message Shinespark run starts at 1:54. Tutorial about that at 12:37. Additional extras at 20:08.
You all waited for this. Get a drink, there's plenty to talk about.
Let's start this off: the real route, which I obviously handle second, does still have its hotspots after unlocking Level 4 security which we did without authorization to get out of here, although Metroid Other M does make authorization into a stupid mechanic anyway. The big one is an obnoxiously placed Aqua Pirate early into the real route that you would have to do active maneuvers around right when you load the screen. He's tolerable, and surprisingly not the cause of the failure in the only other recording that started the real route, but he does try enough to be worth mention and the other Aqua Pirate in the room is also in a shocking position. What caused the failure I mentioned was a blunder with me not being mindful of my junk vision in this game and ending up colliding with an armored Skulltera, more shocking than the Evirs occupying the room to cause trouble with their circling stones. If you're cautious enough, it's thankfully not too hard to outmaneuever the Yards, including the one annoyingly right past a Powamp, although their diagonal shots can definitely be scary and one can cheap shot you if you aren't wary of it.
Of course, those of you seeing that thumbnail know what's up, and it's obviously the highlight of the video: the Secret Message Route. This is something I had not tried out when I back in the day originally did a 1% run, effectively or otherwise (I think I inadvertently grabbed the Missile Tank right below the Pump Control back then, for some odd reason), so my recent practice attempts at this, including some off-screen around when I was checking things out with Nightmare as well, are my first attempts at the whole thing. In truth, my first successful attempt at managing the SMR at all was about halfway on that recent stream of mine that you may have noticed. There were two successful attempts there. Also, as I stated, there was an additional success with the SMR on a recording attempt that I mentioned, the one that lost to the off-screen armored Skulltera. This was over the span of 18 recording attempts in total. Ultimately, this recording is my FOURTH success at the SMR, and I do end up with key advantages over the other players who have recorded their own displays of it as I will outline in a comment. This exceeds 5K characters, good GOD, and there's ANOTHER thing I want to talk about as well.
The summary is that the Secret Message Route is involving how to see a case of The Dev Team Thinks Of Everything involved in this game. By no means will this be my signature video when my Rank Run of Scorched Earth in Battalion Wars 2 has that honor and my display of the Volcano Slopes in Secret of Evermore would have been next in line, but this is definitely an achievement under my belt.
