Metroid Prime - Episode 3: Hello Charge Beam, All the Enemies, Bye-Bye!
In today's episode of the "Metroid Prime" playthrough, we explore more of the Chozo Ruins and regain our Charge Beam and Morph Ball Bombs.
Now that we can use missiles and the Morph Ball, we can now properly start exploring the Chozo Ruins, which despite being the first area you can thoroughly explore, contains the most collectables. To put things into perspective, most of the other areas in the game have nine missile upgrades (though there is one that has only three), whereas the Chozo Ruins has 20 of the games 50 missile upgrades- and that's not including the five energy tanks, among other upgrades and key items.
So suffice to say, even though we explore a good chunk of the Chozo Ruins in today's video and do pretty much everything we can do for the time being, we're going to be making plenty of return trips to this area.
But as for what we get in this episode, we regain the Charge Beam after scanning some ruins, one of which is obscured in a corner near the door that you used to enter the room. In addition, we get our Morph Ball Bombs back after defeating another miniboss: the Incinerator Drone.
The Incinerator Drone's a relatively basic fight- dodge the flames that it sweeps around by either running away from them or by jumping over the ones on the ground while blasting away at it. Then, once the glowing red spot on top is revealed, blast it with a single missile in order to damage your real target: the giant barbed war wasp hive on the room's ceiling. Though despite the hive being the real target, the barbed war wasps themselves are actually more helpful than hazardous since they're not much stronger than regular war wasps and drop health when defeated.
