By pressing the input in a certain manner, we can get the game to turn the hunter while performing an action. A "buffered turn" if you will.

The specific timing for the input is shown in the video. A few things to mention is that obviously we can see better result if we move backward or to the side in step 3.

As for guard follow-up actions, it has to be a move that can be performed while guarding and the left stick neutral. The list includes backhop, guard thrust, counter, slow reload, etc. The few exceptions are Lance cannot buffer turn unguard like Gunlance, and Lance also cannot buffer turn its dash move.

If successful, the animation (and hitbox) of the action will turn along with the hunter's model, when it's normally impossible.

I tried to buffer turn for other weapons that can guard and aim like Charge Blade and Sword & Shield, but no result. Seems this is only exclusive to Lance and Gunlance.

There is no practical use for this, except of course for style. Only problem is that we can accidentally screw up our directions by unintentionally buffering a turn, not unlike what happened in the opening clip.

Ver. 5.10 in time of recording, still exists in ver 5.11.
