[MHW] Great Sword 1-hit builds damage test
I finally managed to make a 1-hit set for Deviljho's Anguish that is able to compete with Wyvern Ignition's. Hence this damage test and comparison.
Anguish is able to out-damage Wyvern Ignition, but only barely and only to monsters which are weak to dragon element. I haven't tested this on all monsters, but it's safe to say that this applies to the current roster.
Having said that, the sets aren't exactly equal, as the one with Anguish doesn't have Fortify. So 1 level of Critical Eye would be sacrificed for that, leaving this set with only 95% affinity on weakspots.
I only tested Crit Element on Pink Rathian due to its weakness, and the outcome is yet again underwhelming. 3 levels of Bombardier and 10% affinity is not worth that extra bit of damage.
I also tested with Magda Potestas II using a hastily cobbled up set, to see if the blast damage can cover for the loss of raw over Wyvern Ignition. This is very monster specific, but at a glance of the current roster, I don't see a monster where this is a better alternative.
P/S: I don't use automated tools for set building, so there is potential to slot in more skills in these. As far as this test is concerned, my only priority is maxing out Attack Boost, Peak Performance, and as much Affinity as required/possible.
PP/S: In this vid I weakened the monsters so they'll go to sleep, allowing me to set up at my leisure.
===================
In case you're wondering, the objective for me doing this is to create a build that delivers the highest damage in--technically speaking--a single hit, without relying on RNG (crit chance, Agitator, etc), while also be easily reproducible, hence why Resentment isn't part of the consideration for now.
The need for this came about when Vaal Hazak's backhop exploit was still a thing. It later transitioned to me trying to see if we can slay/capture the tougher monsters in 1-hit.
I may test the other elemental Great Swords as well, but fitting in Free Element will be a hassle. So this will do for now.
