Pretty good port of the Universal maze-digging classic, although Mr. Do himself is without color and the movements are choppy. The sound effects and graphics definitely capture the feel of the arcade original quite well. If you have lived under a rock much of your natural life or are too young to remember this one, you portray a clown digging a maze in the dirt and eating cherries (what are they doing underground?) and avoiding monsters. As with Dig Dug you had rocks to squish your enemies, here you have apples-- and you can move them to some extent, as can the monsters. You can end a stage in a number of ways-- kill all the monsters, eat all the cherries, or spell out the word EXTRA by killing a monster that sports each of those 5 letters, which will also give you an extra life! There is also the secret diamond hidden in this game that gave you an extra credit in the arcades, and simply awards you 8,000 points here (though it's cool it was included). Mr. Do is armed with a bouncing ball that is restocked after a short delay, but making use of the apples is much more lucrative. Great port and if you've never played this, Just "Do" It!
