Great port of the first sequel to Donkey Kong, this features the son of the ape trying to rescue his papa from the clutches of.. Mario?? Well, it looks like Mario got sweet revenge on Donkey Kong for kidnapping his girlfriend, and now has him in chains. As Junior tries to climb vines, jump on moving platforms, and collect keys to free his papa, Mario sends traps (red and blue) and birds to end Junior's quest permanently. The red traps will move down the length of a chain or vine and retreat back up when they reach the bottom; the blue traps will just fall through down to the bottom of the screen. The birds fly in a fairly predictable pattern and are generally easier to avoid. For bonus points you can drop fruits onto the traps or birds (for something that can kill Junior by touch, they sure can't take getting a fruit dropped on them!). Besides some missing animations and lack of a 4th stage from the arcade (featuring some sort of power station with sentient electrical impulses) this is a very close port of the arcade original and is a very pleasant surprise to fans of the arcade game. Ook ook!
