I've been playing all the custom maps for NAM so far through a map selector instead of doing something like merging the CONs and running through a campaign. Pretty much 'cause I don't want my changes in Tangerine to be overwritten. Doing that in this mapset however was a mistake.

Yellow Star - Part 2 starts off with you under heavy fire almost immediately starting the map. There's no loadout selection before you're thrown to the chaos. There are dozens of enemies shooting at you and you only have 48 rounds on the M16. 48 rounds that will quickly dry out in seconds just trying to shoot the first half of the bunch. Because of the way the map is run, any finished playthrough of a map pretty much kicks me back to the main menu.

As a result, I'm pretty much softlocked purely 'cause I can't cross the rest of first field without running out of ammo and promptly gunned down. No, just running through the field hoping for the best didn't work either, I tried. Enemies don't drop ammo at all (to my dismay), so the chances of me gaining anything out of charging enemy positions are practically nil.

Now, I thought about cheating. It'd be real easy for me to do, there's a perfectly good reason for it, and by all accounts nothing is lost if I just give myself some extra ammo. However, it does feel a bit improper to do, especially since this is an NFR instead of a regular run. I decided then to hit a middle ground by reducing the difficulty from Salty to Grunt. This reduced the total amount of enemies I have to spearthrough in order to get some ammo from the first shed, and I was able to beat the map that way.

This marks the third time I had to reduce the difficulty after that Undertale thing I did a while back and Soundless Mound. Never say never for changing difficulties if it means more runs are accessible.
