Once Upon a Forest (PC) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sanctuary Woods' 1995 children's graphic adventure game for PCs running Dos, Once Upon a Forest.
Once Upon a Forest is based on the 1993 animated kids film that has three friends searching for a cure for their ill friend as they face the threat of their home bring destroyed by mankind. If you haven't seen it, think FernGully and you're in the ballpark.
The game follows the movie quite closely, having you move the trio across the forest helping out others while looking for the plants needed to get a cure for Michelle. And spoiler alert: you also save everyone else in the forest. That spoiler alert was dripping with sarcasm, btw.
The graphics and sound are cute and well done, with a huge amount of speech and animation packed in for a game that was released both on CD and on floppy (the entire game is just over 20 megabytes!). There are no real puzzles to speak of and the game is pretty slow paced, but it's a pretty excellent introduction to point and click for younger kids. And if you have a lot of nostalgic feelings for the movie, you'll probably enjoy it quite a bit.
Once Upon a Forest is another of those games that somewhat shocked me for how little exposure it seems to have on Youtube, so to fix that, I've done a full playthrough. Hopefully it helps someone relive some good memories :)
