Funny Playing IPS GBP kit in lemon yellow ordered from FP store on AliExpress directly. The kit took apx 2 weeks to arrive and when I put it together I realized the LCD display ribbon was cut! This really sucked but I messaged FP via AliExpress and they sent out a replacement LCD panel (just the panel itself not the entire assembly with scaler/control ribbon) and this took apx another 2.5 weeks to arrive. So overall I've been waiting over a month for this but here it finally is and its working great!

This FP IPS kit includes everything you need meaning you get the IPS kit and matching shell with battery contact, glass screen cover, buttons and membranes. Just add your GBP motherboard and go! I like the way they sell these kits there's no worrying about what may or may not fit together and it does come out a fair bit cheaper in the end. The IPS screen kit alone costs apx the same from NA based shops like HHL or RM but here you get the shell, glass screen cover, buttons and membranes all included. Granted shipping from one of the NA based shops would be a lot faster I can't deny the savings here and the simple one stop shop makes it easier for novices to buy everything they need and not have to worry about it working together.

This kit is easy to install with only one power wire to solder. The screen fits into the shell like a glove so alignment is easy. There's a single pre installed touch sensor to change colors and toggle the pixel gap mode. The stock contrast wheel with no modifications now magically controls backlight brightness!

Overall I've very happy with the kit. Any complaints I have are more an issue with the Game Boy Pocket in general and not this kit. The GBP only runs off two AAA batteries and that's just not a lot of capacity and on top of that its voltage regulator is not that efficient. Many people who do any mods to GBP often decide to change out the original voltage regulator for a more modern, efficient part. The otherwise stock system will likely be fine using original carts but fact is using flashcarts on ANY modified GBP can be iffy at best. There just isn't much juice to spare when you've added the extra load of the backlight on top of the extra load a flashcart may draw. Again, this is not an issue with this particular mod in any way and is an issue with the design of the old GBP overall. That said this IPS kit in general may draw LESS power than some older kits and doesn't seem to draw any more power than just a simple LED backlight mod might on its own. I tested mine here with both 1.5v alkalines and 1.2V Eneloop rechargable batteries and it seemed just fine. The issue with my Everdrive resetting happens on all of my other LED backlit modded GBP's and didn't seem any worse here even on those lower voltage rechargables. Honestly it's impressive how low the extra power draw is on this IPS kit considering how bright and sharp it is. %100 recommend this kit. It's easy to install and works well.
