Note: I had to split this single playthrough into 2 video parts because Youtube won't let me upload the single original recording video saying it's too long (almost 22 hours). This was done in one sitting.

Please note I took a food break from 9:13:13 to 9:46:47 . I hope you like when I took this food break. Karen's in trouble, so let's......chill in Ethan's room for over 30 minutes. =P

Phantasy Star Universe is the first Xbox 360 game I've played. When Phantasy Star Universe first came out, I bought the Playstation 2 version along with the strategy guide. When I was playing the PS2 version, I realized what I'm seeing on screen doesn't look anywhere even close to as good as the screenshot pictures on the guide. This is what made me buy a Xbox 360 console for the first time and also bought the 360 version of Phantasy Star Universe. When I played PSU on Xbox 360 with component cables for the first time, I was mind blown how amazing the graphics looked. I have a lot of nostalgia for this game, which is why I decided to do this game for a game challenge.

Note I chose "Brightness 4" for this playthrough because I thought it looked the best for most of the game. However, this brightness setting is like a double-edged sword. It looks horrible for parts that are very bright or when light is shining on the characters. I know it looks pretty bad on these parts, and I apologize for that. But, for parts where it's dark, this brightness setting makes everything look amazing in my opinion. You can see a lot of detail you can't see if you leave it on default brightness 3.

Regarding the "no death allowed" part of the challenge, I was originally going to be more lenient for this challenge and allow the use of revives if I died in the run. How revives work in this game is if you have a "Scape Doll" (which is a rare item to find) in your inventory, when you die, one Scape Doll will automatically be used and revive Ethan. How many times you can revive depends on how many Scape Dolls you have in your inventory. Honestly, I was expecting to die in the real run because the final boss has an unavoidable attack which will most likely kill me, and I also died multiple times in the 2 full practice runs I did before the real run. The surprising thing is, I actually managed to survive to the final boss' unavoidable attack, and I don't think I ever died in this run. I'll explain this more in the "Part 2 of 2" video description.

I want to clarify that the no death allowed part of the challenge only applies to Ethan, the character I'm controlling. The ally A.I. isn't very smart and tend to get themselves killed. I often have to babysit them with healing spells since they never heal on their own. Maya can use a healing spell but rarely ever uses it.

In the first Phantasy Star Online game, in order to do the full attack sequence, you had to press the attack button at the right time in order to do the next attack. If you timed it wrong, the next attack would not come out and would leave you vulnerable to being attacked. Unfortunately, Phantasy Star Universe does not have this. There's no timing at all to the attacks in PSU. You can just mash and the full attack will come out. I personally found it more fun when the game forced you to time your attacks in order to get the full attack out. It takes skill to do it and feels rewarding when you do it and time it right. It also tested how well you could time the attack under pressure from dangerous enemies. I wish PSU had this.

I wasn't expecting Youtube to deny my single original recording file, so I didn't have any plan for this video's thumbnail. I already used my best idea for the thumbnail (which is the thumbnail you see in the part 2 of 2 video; the one with all the main characters). So I decided to make the technically 2nd thumbnail with the NPC's from PSU. Unfortunately, due to time constraints because just doing the main story with no distractions takes so long, I wasn't able to show the individual NPC dialogues Ethan can have with them. They are like mini side stories that have no impact on the main story, but shows how Ethan interacts with other characters giving more depth into his character. In order to see the full mini side story for each NPC, you have to talk to them as soon as possible. Then, to see the next bit, you have to talk to them again the next chapter to see new dialogue. If you do this every chapter, by the end of the game, you'll see the full mini side story between Ethan and the NPC, which usually consists of some problem and ends with a resolution of some sort. While having no relation to the main story, I found these interactions between Ethan and the NPC's to be fascinating and recommend everyone to see it.

I'll save the rest of what I have to say in the "Part 2 of 2" video description.

This was played on Xbox 360 console.

Thanks for watching. =)
