Phantasy Star Universe Single Playthrough / No Death Allowed / No Saving / (Part 2 of 2) Xbox 360
Note: I had to split this single playthrough into 2 video parts because Youtube won't let me upload the single original recording video saying it's too long (almost 22 hours). This was done in one sitting.
Please note I took a 2nd break from 30:10 to 50:08 .
In the thumbnail, you'll notice Lumia's clothes look different than what she wears in this game. That's because the clothes Lumia's wearing in the thumbnail are (spoilers for a game no one can play anymore) the clothes she wore when she was a Guardian-in-training in PSU episode 3. Sadly, episode 3 has no physical copy and and could only be played online. Since the servers are closed now, no one can play episode 3 anymore. It's really a shame because I would've really liked to do a game challenge for episode 3. By the time I realized there was an episode 3, the servers were already about to shut down. And, back then, I didn't do game challenges yet. I do regret not doing it back then. I know there's Clementine, but I don't know if that will ever be able to restore the full story of episode 3. I really hope it can someday.
I started feeling exhaustion around the 20 hour mark, which is in the final stage, which is also the hardest dungeon in the entire game.
Continuing what I was talking about in the part 1 of 2 video regarding the no death allowed part of the challenge, I was originally going to be more lenient and allow the use of revives if I died in the real run. This is because I didn't want to keep doing attempts for an almost 22 hour game every time I died. I died multiple times in the 2 practice runs I did before the real run.
PSU is generally not a very hard game as long as you keep up with the latest gear. But this game has a strange balance when it comes to how much damage can be done to you. Most enemies including most bosses don't do a lot of damage. However, some enemies, like the tall enemies who shoot a ball projectile, are extremely dangerous. That projectile won't always do a ton a damage, but sometimes it can do an extremely large amount of damage, like so much damage it'll one shot kill you. This is how I died in the practice runs. The flying things in the last stage also have this projectile, and I have also died to this in practice runs. You can see how stressed out I am when I'm dealing with the last wave of normal enemies before the final 2 bosses in the final chapter, the one with the floating mage and 2 flying things. I was really focused on trying to not get hit by those projectiles to avoid being one shot killed. That battle felt like it lasted forever. Enemies who can spam ice attacks around themselves are also really dangerous. That ice spam not only does a lot of damage per hit but can also freeze you. You can't use healing items or healing spells when you're frozen, so you won't be able to move, and the ice spam will keep hitting you until you die.
The other reason I was going to be more lenient with using revives if I died is because of the final boss' unavoidable attack, which will most likely kill me. The only way to prevent the boss from using this unavoidable attack is to kill him before he can use it, but I'm pretty underleveled, so that wasn't an option. I was pretty sure I was going to die anyways, so there was no point trying for a no death. Shockingly, in the real run, I didn't die. I "barely" survived it. I had to watch the video in slow motion to make sure I really didn't die since it happened so fast. What this means is all my hard work throughout the entire run paid off. The entire game I competed with my allies for exp. In order to get the most exp from an enemy kill, Ethan has to be the one to finish off the enemy. To get some exp, even if someone else finishes off the enemy, Ethan has to hit the enemy at least once to get some exp. You see me rushing to finish off the enemies before my allies can, so I can get the most exp I can because I need it in order to level up and survive. So I got enough experience to just barely be high enough level along with having enough defense from my gear and also having just high enough hunter level (which raises defense) to just "barely" be able to survive the final boss' unavoidable attack. I honestly wasn't expecting to not die in this run. I'm pretty sure I never died. I don't recall any point in the game where my life bar was red (which happens when you die), and I don't recall ever seeing the Scape Doll was used message (which is easy to click through if you press X (attack) or A button).
I'm very happy I had enough money to buy my favorite clothes just before the end of the game. The clothes I want are really expensive, but, fortunately, I had a lot of rare drops that sold for good money and also not buying other weapons I originally was going to buy helped me have enough money for the clothes. It's great what Ethan wears shows in all cutscenes including the ending.
This was played on Xbox 360 console.
Thanks for watching. =)
