This. This is how a proper sequel is done on a next generation console. The first Pilot Wings on the Super Nintendo blew my mind the moment I laid eyes on it, and Pilot Wings 64 blew my mind all over again on the Nintendo 64. As where the first installment was to show off what the SNES could do, this installment was to take Pilot Wings to a whole new level. From the graphics, to the music, to the much more expansive level design, to the precise control, this game was simply stunning. I first saw this game when my brother got the N64 at launch and He had picked up Mario 64 and Pilot Wings 64. Mario 64 was of course amazing, but Pilot Wings is the game I just couldn't forget after I had seen it and is partially responsible for my N64 purchase. It's hard to believe that the N64 almost ended Nintendo's existence when they had games like these.
I want to be clear when I say to those who didn't live in this era and think the N64 was just about game play and not about graphics that these graphics were cutting edge and looked amazing at the time. All games age and this title certainly has aged visually, but the game play has not aged a day. As good as the first installment is, this game is a quantum leap over the first Pilot Wings. If only developers would put the kind of thought and care into sequels like they used to, we would never feel like we were playing the same game over and over again like we do nowadays. I'm looking at you New Super Mario Bros.! I did have extra footage of the cannonball level 1, but left it out of this capture because of time and don't like to spoil surprises for first time players as usual.
If you have a Nintendo 64, you need to have this game in your library plain and simple. This game is extremely common and therefore it is very affordable.
