In spite of my newfound romance with magic (which seems like a love of a lifetime), I found this one to be the hardest battle in the challenge up to this point.

There are two bosses this time, each one as healthy as the other. This may sound familiar and resemble some of the past battles fought, but there's an underlying gimmick - one head absorbs physicals whilst the other absorbs magic. They make our life harder by shuffling so that we can't always tell which head is which, and by reviving the missing head when it's KO'd. Naturally, in an ideal world we would make an effort to take them out in a single turn, as logic would suggest, but the pressure exerted by both the heads being alive and attacking is excessive and perfectly justifies keeping one head dead for even a short period of time.

The phys-weak head should be taken out first as the one taking the most damage from Wizards' Hammer Spellcraft. 4 Hammers connecting on turn 1 guarantee the kill, but nobody guarantees that the girls will stay alive to execute the actions. A double crit accomplishes the same in the event one of the girl falls.

I use the expensive yet effective skill combo of Damage Dispersion + Revenge (as well as the ubiquitous Stand Ground to survive fatal attacks most of the time) so that an attack like Bite has a 25% chance to grant any of the four characters +1 BP and not just the person it's targeting. It's risky but totally worthwhile IMHO.

Poison Breath is the deadliest attack to be used, targeting everybody and always dealing fatal damage to Yew. Everybody is protected from poison so that in the event I fail to restore HP with Halfsies Hi-Potion the 1 HP characters don't drop dead at the end of a turn. BP Recovery + no poison protection was an alternative worth considering, but I've had my share of grief restarting due to the poisoned 1 HP characters dying.

When the first head falls, I focus using Dart Spellcraft on the 2nd one. The attacks are top priority so the girls using the spells may as well die after they're done attacking, assuming somebody is ready revive them (which is not the case as I conserve BP at this stage of the fight, due to it being less dangerous, as we usually necessitate much more BP when a head is revived and things get messy all of a sudden).

Things get terribly risky towards the end with two characters not activating Stand Ground at once and me finding myself in a situation that could well lead to a game over. Good thing the shuffling move is lowest priority!

And with that, the game's first chapter is complete. New jobs and bosses await us in the next one.
