This time around I decided the postgame would be worth sticking around for, so I did the Delta Episode for the Wallace and Zennia battles.

Wallace poses a bigger challenge than he did as a gym leader, with his team now consisting of the same mons he had in Emerald as the champion of the Pokemon League. There are no megas on his team (no reason not to use Mega Gyarados, I think, unless you want to be faithful to the original) but it's an actual party of six, all very high-levelled. Last time we faced Wallace, we brought a bunch of users of electric and grass-type moves (including Mega Heracross), which isn't that accessible of an option now. Still, we manage.

There are some KOs I fail to grab with low damage rolls (Gyarados, Tentacruel for sure, possibly something else too), so I lead with a poisoned Sturdy Golem whose Stealth Rock takes care of this worry for good. Not much point in poisoning that Golem, I know.

When Golem falls, we begin the fighting. Electrode is OHKO'd by Wailord's EQ and its own attacks aren't nearly powerful enough to do the same to it before it strikes back (level disadvantage and Wailord's huge HP stat are too blame). So instead I chip at it with Volt Switch and switch out to Braviary whom EQ doesn't touch...

Braviary is one of the mons I could've taken to the E4 but didn't, the main reason being that it didn't exist in vanilla RSE. It comes at a high level of 45 before the E4 (and before the first Wallace too now that I think about it) with good offence, but its matchups in the E4 are shaky - I'd much rather bring along Honchkrow who does everything Hariyama does but better, like OHKOing Mega Metagross with Foul Play. Still, I never actually bothered to catch and evolve a Murkrow because I have no idea how much time it would take to get a Dusk Stone before the E4. I imagine super training would take less time than the time spent farming for wild mons with stats/natures/abilities I like, but I couldn't get down to doing that. We may not have Honchkrow, but Braviary is great here.

Braviary is strong enough to finish off Wailord with Life Orb Brave Bird, which may be neutral and may come from an underlevelled mon, but still hits like a truck. The recoil is big but who cares, Fake Out is the only thing that touches da big bird in this fight.

Milotic will be brought in next, and this time I decide to cheese it out with Mirror Coat. Its user is the traded Corsola, the highest-levelled Pokemon I can have in this challenge without DexNav abuse. It was brought to E4 and had good utility in OHKOing Lance's Salamence but when Steven annihilated my doods I had to restart and switch it out in favour of Electrode, who summarily took care of the two biggest threats (Skarm and Meta Metagross).

Corsola's bad luck isn't over in this run, as it gets hit by a Hydro Pump crit and doesn't get to finish Milotic off with literally any offensive move (I like Power Gem). Its job is finished by Electrode, its rival who took Corsola's spot in the E4! I like to imagine their rivalry as an action movie with elements of comedy as Corsola struggles to make itself useful amidst lv. 40s in spite of being 10 levels higher.

Whiscash will come out, and I don't have a grass-type counter anymore. I wasn't sure but wanted to check if Mega Medicham could perhaps OHKO with Hi Jump Kick. It did, and never failed after my Stealth Rock lead. Gotta love having overkill offence. Medicham will return again to deal with Tentacruel, OHKOing with Thunderpunch and taking Dazzling Gleam without much trouble (no screens necessary).

Ludicolo is outsped and OHKO'd by Braviary's Brave Bird.

While Wallace may have not posed so much of a challenge even with a stronger team, I thought this was a cool battle and worth including in this series. I will conclude the challenge series with my next and probably last video, the second battle against Zinnia. I may or may not decide to do Elite 4 rematch battles later, but me leaving postgame content in a 0 exp challenge and then coming back several months later has a precedent and could occur once more, who knows. For now though, Zinnia and we're done.
