Happy Hump Day! You may notice this video is way longer than the others. That’s because it’s a double feature—though after I played the first battle in this video, I didn’t intend for it to be a double feature. I just happened to find the same opponent again. So after this, to minimize my chances of finding Kyle a THIRD time, I decided to give it a rest for a few minutes, then come back with the Wugtrio Team, which will feature for Thursday’s in Friday’s videos.

Type: Double Battle
Opponent: Kyle
Battle Court: Blueberry Academy
Music: Cassiopoeia
My Pokémon: Gigi (Farigiraf), Lena (Mightyena), Hipparchus (Hippowdon), Leonardo (Pyroar)
Opponent's Pokémon: Indeedee (Female), Iron Crown, Raichu (Alolan), Victreebel

Indeedee was the sole reason I chose Mightyena due to Dark being one of only two weaknesses on Indeedee (the other being Bug). Indeedee is an opening Pokémon first and foremost, even more so than Whimsicott, because Follow Me augmented by Psychic Terrain is still one of the best ways to prevent Pokémon on the other side from attacking Indeedee’s partner. You see, if you look carefully, this entire team is most likely entirely special attackers, looking at Team Preview. Victreebel is the only one who might be a physical attacker, though I wouldn’t know because Victreebel never attacked in this battle.

Certainly, that’s a Pokémon you won’t see very often! I had a Victreebel on one of my Pokémon Battle Revolution teams, but I rarely sent her into battle. Even I’ve had trouble figuring out what to do with Victreebel, with those awkward stats and high competition for that type combination…one that, so it seems, Amoonguss became the winner of.

(Hopefully I get accustomed to it later, but I always forget that Tachyon Cutter is a Steel-type move and not a Psychic-type move.)

You’ve likely seen it in previous videos, but Lena (Mightyena) holds an Eject Button. The purpose of this is to bring back Mightyena later to use Intimidate again, but in this battle, I was seriously considering changing the hold item to something else, as it backfired on me. I chose Gigi (Farigiraf) in the event Whimsicott turned up in battle, as Farigiraf is one of the best counters for Prankster Tailwind strategies, but as you can see, Whimsicott was not even chosen, making her dead weight.

A move that Kyle likes to use on this team, and it goes hand-in-hand with Indeedee being on this team alongside a high number of Psychic-types, is Expanding Force. Previously available as a move tutor in Sword and Shield’s Isle of Armor, Expanding Force was reduced to Armarouge’s signature move when Scarlet and Violet came out. It was then added to the list of TMs in Indigo Disk, allowing more Pokémon to learn it and for Kyle’s team to be possible. Expanding Force normally has a power of 80, but in Psychic Terrain, it gets a 50% boost in power plus the 30% boost from Psychic Terrain and hits both opponents. That’s why my Meowstic last generation had that move—it’s terrifying, like all of the terrain-based moves introduced alongside Expanding Force. (Maybe except Terrain Pulse.)

Type: Double Battle
Opponent: Kyle
Battle Court: Blueberry Academy
Music: Team Star Boss
My Pokémon: Hipparchus (Hippowdon), Debra (Zebstrika), Gustave (Feraligatr), Lena (Mightyena)
Opponent's Pokémon: Walking Wake, Whimsicott, Raichu (Alolan), Iron Crown

When I immediately find myself against the same opponent with the same team, I try to select different Pokémon to show what the rest of this team is like. I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but that’s what I do. In this case, Gustave (Feraligatr) and Debra (Zebstrika) weren’t chosen in the previous battle, so I selected them this time.

Sometimes, my opponent will select the same four Pokémon. Sometimes, as in this case, they’ll select different ones too. I wonder if my opponent wanted to showcase the other two Pokémon as well, considering Walking Wake and Whimsicott were both the two not chosen in the previous battle but also the two opening Pokémon.

Not that they don’t go together, considering Whimsicott activated Sunny Day to bring Walking Wake’s Hydro Steam to ridiculous amounts of power. And even afterwards, Sunny Day helped suppress Gustave (Feraligatr).

This time though, the Eject Button on Lena (Mightyena) worked in my favor. Though there are still no physical attackers for Intimidate to work on, my capacity to switch out my Pokémon allowed Debra (Zebstrika) to return at full power after Overheat reduced her Sp. Attack.
