This is the first month of Regulation F, in which the Pokémon found in the Blueberry Pokédex are allowed. And as you can see, it came in like a storm, with 14 Pokémon immediately entering the top 50. In addition, Thundurus Incarnate has entered the top 50 for the first time. Unfortunately, Enamorus Incarnate has yet to enter this list.

Leaving the top 50 are Alolan Ninetales (51st), Dragapult (53rd), Regidrago (55th), Scizor (56th), Baxcalibur (59th), Gastrodon (61st), Milotic (62nd), Galarian Moltres (66th), Sneasler (69th), Kantonian Weezing (77th), Hisuian Lilligant (79th), Sylveon (80th), Sableye (83rd), Regieleki (88th), and Salamence (115th). Makes me wonder if leaving it at just the top 50 is enough, considering all of these guys are no pushovers, and some of them ruled the competitive scene last generation.

Scizor’s exit from the top 50 also means that, not counting Terastallization, there are no more Bug-types on that list. It is the only type without at least one Pokémon on there.

Three Pokémon made the biggest shuffles to pre-existing Pokémon: Incineroar, Raging Bolt, and Whimsicott, with Intimidate, Thunderclap, and Prankster moves respectively. Thundurus Incarnate joined the highest ranks as a counter to Raging Bolt: Thundurus uses Prankster-boosted Eerie Impulse to cut Raging Bolt’s Sp. Attack down to size.

I’m not too sure about the massive drops towards the bottom of the list though.

Type: Double Battle
Opponent: Ruki
Battle Court: Naranja Academy/Uva Academy
Music: Paradise Protection Protocol
My Pokémon: Dupré (Medicham), Winton (Avalugg) (Hisuian), Templeton (Spiritomb), Ameelia (Wugtrio)
Opponent's Pokémon: Glimmora, Torkoal, Venusaur, Pecharunt

Torkoal’s presence alongside Kantonian Exeggutor and Venusaur, both of whom can have Chlorophyll, tells me this is a harsh sunlight team. Having Torkoal and Venusaur together is troublesome though, since Trick Room will cause Chlorophyll to backfire but Torkoal to shine with its horrendously low Speed. Every strategy I used in this match was improvised, thought up on the spot, since every Pokémon combination my opponent brought forth was one I hadn’t expected (Glimmora and Torkoal, then Glimmora and Venusaur, then Glimmora and Pecharunt).

It might say something that Stone Edge managed to wipe out Torkoal quickly, whereas that Charjabug was still standing from it!

Speaking of Pecharunt, I think this is the first time I’ve shown this Pokémon in an online battle, so here’s a quick rundown of it: Pecharunt is a Poison/Ghost Pokémon, sharing it with the Gastly line (and leaving the Zubat line the last one from Generation I with a unique type combination). It’s got stats of 88 in all stats except Defense, which is 160 (and is connected to the Loyal Three mechanically via their HP stats of 88). Pecharunt is meant to inflict Poison, which will also confuse due to its signature Ability, Poison Puppeteer, and goes along nicely with its signature move, Malignant Chain, a strong Poison-type attack with a 50% chance of inflicting bad Poison. I’m still not sure how effective Pecharunt is, but I’d reckon with that massive Defense stat, it’s a much better matchup against physical attackers than special attackers, the latter of whom would just see Pecharunt as a Pokémon with stats between Glalie and Silvally.

By the way, during the last few turns of this battle, there was some connection mishap. I can’t explain it, just that the game took a long time idling each time a new Pokémon brought out and, as you can see, idling before deciding a winner.
