So there is going to be another Pokémon Legends game, and this one is set in Kalos, it seems. Well, that explains why Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde aren’t among the Legendary Pokémon Snacksworth can summon over—or even put into the game’s code, for that matter: the developers are saving them for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. (What does the A stand for? My guess is a newly introduced Legendary Pokémon. Maybe it also refers to AZ, the character.)

Currently, none of the Legendary Pokémon introduced in the Kalos games can be brought over from Pokémon HOME. Of the major Legendary Pokémon, they’re the only ones with this distinction (though some of the minor Legendary Pokémon are still not yet available, most notably the Island Guardians). Perhaps that should’ve been our first clue that we’d be getting a future release that’s an extended reference to Pokémon X and Y. Difficult to believe that one would skip a generation though. Perhaps they’ll revisit Unova later, or perhaps The Indigo Disk WAS the Unova callback.

Type: Double Battle
Opponent: ゆー (Yuu)
Battle Court: Pokémon League (Interior)
Music: Entei
My Pokémon: Feraligatr, Mightyena, Zebstrika, Hippowdon
Opponent's Pokémon: ウーラオス (Urshifu) (Single Strike), リキキリン (Farigiraf), オーガポン (Ogerpon) (Wellspring), ガチグマ (Ursaluna) (Bloodmoon)

Looking at Team Preview, I was expecting a start with Tinkaton, since she is normally an opener, with disruptive moves like Fake Out, Thunder Wave, and Encore. Instead, I get Urshifu and Farigiraf. I’ve seen both of these Pokémon on the opposing side a lot, but I’ve never seen them both sent out at once, so I was wondering what they were up to.

As it seems, a lot.

Using a Helping Hand, Urshifu’s Wicked Blow managed to knock out Feraligatr in one hit! That was a surprise to me. I think this is the breakdown:
Wicked Blow’s base damage is 80.
It always scores a critical hit, which is a x1.5 mutiplier.
Helping Hand is another x1.5 multiplier.
STAB is another x1.5 multiplier.
Urshifu used only Wicked Blow, so he may have a Choice Band, which is another x1.5 multiplier.

When there are multiple multipliers, they stack on each other. That is, they’re multiplied, not added. The result is not a x3.0 multiplier, but a whopping x5.0625 multiplier if all four are considered. That puts Wicked Blow’s final damage at 405. Going off of Urshifu’s 130 Attack, that’s around Choice Scarf Dracovish levels of pain. (Slightly higher, as Fishious Rend with the x2 mutliplier for going first, x1.5 for Strong Jaw, and x1.5 for STAB is 382.5, though, of course, that can be augmented with Helping Hand too, not that I really saw any of that put to use last generation.)

So that kind of put me on the back foot for the rest of the match. Looking at the rest of their lineup, I can see why they wanted Feraligatr gone at all costs: a Water-type like Feraligatr would be able to overcome Ursaluna, and they may have observed that, from the surface level in Team Preview, he’s the only one on the team with a type advantage over Ursaluna. (As you might have figured, there are other ways for this team to fight Ursaluna, both Hisuian and Bloodmoon; I had that bear in mind when making this team too, and I’ve accounted for them.)
