The penultimate Big Run occurred on the second week of March 2024 (I think it’s the penultimate one, considering there’s one each season with new material, and there’s only one new season left after this one), which surprised no one who’s noticed the patterns of when they occur. The Salmonids must respond to Deep Cut starting a new season, because they’ll invade like this shortly after a new season begins, then hold off until shortly after the next season begins.

For this one, they’ve gone to Eeltail Alley, which Deep Cut even points out is located pretty close to where they do their Splatcasts. There’s been a theory going around that each Big Run has taken place increasingly closer to the center of Splatsville, though without knowing the location of each area, this can only be speculation. For the record, there have been six Big Runs, including this one. In chronological order, they have taken place in Wahoo World, Inkblot Art Academy, Undertow Spillway, Um’ami Ruins, Barnacle & Dime, and Eeltail Alley. The only things we can be sure about are that the first two were in Inkopolis, while the remaining ones were in Splatsville, and that this one in Eeltail Alley is closest to the hub. That theory states that the final Big Run will be set in the Splatsville hub itself. Fans vary in whether they think that the other modes will be locked out or if they’ll be playable in some way (such as all Splatlandians being evacuated to Inkopolis for the time being, allowing everyone access to Inkopolis Plaza and Inkpolis Square).

Eeltail Alley’s Big Run is the first Big Run to have a constant water level. It does not ride and fall with the tides, and whatever was submerged prior remains submerged from beginning to end. Instead, the tide indicators tell you where the basket will be and which gushers the Salmonids will be coming out of.

I’ll continue wrting the description later—here in the United States, Daylight Savings Time 2024 has begun, and since I don’t live in non-Navajo Nation Arizona, we observe Daylight Savings, and so an hour has been put into storage for this day to be retrieved in November.

1:21 - Match #1
Special Weapon: Crab Tank
Wave 1: Slosher - Low tide
Wave 2: Dualie Squelchers - Medium tide (Griller)
Wave 3: Grizzco Blaster - Low tide (Mothership)
This was the first match of the session, and yet, this would be the one that set the record for us, getting us the 110+ Golden Eggs necessary to get the silver rank. Is that what it takes to get a high rank? To get the correct nightttime waves?

7:50 - Match #2
Special Weapon: Crab Tank
Wave 1: Octobrush - Medium tide
Wave 2: Classic Squiffer - Low tide
Wave 3: Recycled Brella 24 Mk I - Medium tide
Xtrawave: Grizzco Brella - Medium tide (Horrorboros)
Normally, getting the Horrorboros to me is a gimme, because I personally have haf the highest success rate with Horrorboros. (The one with the lowest success rate for me is the Cohozuna.) We were going at a good clip at the first half of the Xtrawave, but things went terribly wrong in the second half, and I have no idea what changed.

16:10 - Match #3
Special Weapon: Triple Inkstrike
Wave 1: Grizzco Slosher - High tide
Wave 2: Douser Dualies FF - Medium tide
Wave 3: Luna Blaster - Medium tide
Xtrawave: .52 Gal - Medium tide (Cohozuna)
With that, that's both of the new weapons introduced in Drizzle Season 2024! I was pretty surprised by how well everyone came together to fight the Cohozuna, considering the struggles we had in the previous waves.

And as you can see, thanks to the more lenient numbers needed to get the trophies, I managed to get the silver Megalodontia! Not that I'm going to put in my locker or anything. That thing's a makeshift bookshelf.
