As you can see in this video, another battle court has been added with Indigo Disk being available, the one at the entrance to Blueberry Academy. We had four at the start, plus one more added with the Global Challenge 2023 I, and this one makes six: Cabo Poco, Mesagoza’s central plaza, Naranja Academy/Uva Academy, Medali (Fortune Eatery), the Pokémon League interiors, and now Blueberry Academy.

However, there are seven battle courts located inside the Terarium, none of which are available online: one for each of the five plazas (Savannah, Canyon, Coastal, Polar, and Central), plus one by the Terarium entrance and another within Chargestone Cavern. That means the ratio of available battle courts to unavailable battle courts has actually decreased with Indigo Disk, going from 5 out of 17 (about 29.4%) to 6 out of 25 (24.0%).

There were three battle courts in Paldea never used at any point in the game: the one at Mesagoza’s west side, the one in someone’s front yard in Cortondo, and the one in Zapapico. (Probably coincidentally, all three appear to be designed for everyday, ordinary use, akin to a basketball court at a recreation center.) As they aren’t available online, none of them have seen any use whatsoever. Well, with Indigo Disk, we can add two more to that list: the one by the Terarium entrance and the one within Chargestone Cavern.

Though I hope for more battle courts to be made available, and the Blueberry Prologue would’ve been a perfect opportunity to introduce another one, I don’t expect any further ones.

Type: Double Battle
Opponent: 0gg
Battle Court: Blueberry Academy
Music: Terapagos
My Pokémon: Hipparchus (Hippowdon), Debra (Zebstrika), Gustave (Feraligatr), Leonardo (Pyroar)
Opponent's Pokémon: Metagross, Entei, R⦾GUE (Flutter Mane), Frankie (Dragonite)

This is a very Indigo Disk era battle, not just because of it being set at Blueberry Academy, but it features music from Indigo Disk (the first battle against Terapagos), but two Pokémon on each side who were first made available in Indigo Disk: Zebstrika and Feraligatr on my side, and Metagross and Entei on the other. Hipparchus, my Hippowdon, also uses a move introduced in Indigo Disk. Even both trainers are using Poké Ball throwing styles introduced in Indigo Disk!

This is a serious team from my opponent, by the way. Five of the Pokémon found in their team are within the top 30 of double battling for this month so far through Regulation F (the remaining one, Alolan Ninetales, is 53rd), and all of them synergize with each other. Despite me correctly guessing who would show up first, this would not be an easy fight by any means.

And later into the battle is when you’ll see ANOTHER feature of Indigo Disk: the Stellar-type Terastallization. The 19th type introduced into the series, the Stellar-type is not a traditional type, per se, as it is a particular form of Terastallizing, as no Pokémon has the Stellar type natively, and it can’t be copied by another Pokémon (such as through Reflect Type). First discovered with Terapagos, Stellar Tera Shards become available in Area Zero Underdepths, then around the Terarium, where wild Pokémon with the Stellar type roam around. Defeating or catching them yields 10 Stellar Tera Shards, up to 12 can spawn at a time, and they reset at midnight each day. The chef at Fortune Eatery can cook a dish to change a Pokémon’s Tera type to Stellar in the same way as the other eighteen types, which is where this one got it from.

When a Pokémon attains the Stellar Tera type, its weaknesses, resistances, and immunities remain the same as before. However, the first time in a battle a Pokémon uses a move of a particular type, it will provide a 20% boost if not the same type as it or a 100% boost if it is the same type. Tera Blast’s base power increases from 80 to 100 and hits for neutral damage against all types, but the user’s Attack and Sp. Attack decrease by one stage. Stellar-type Tera Blast will always hit other Terastallized Pokémon for super effective damage no matter the target’s Tera type, and Terapagos’s signature move, Tera Starstorm, hits both opponents in a double battle.

That means the Stellar Tera type is best used on Pokémon that are either very fast and can benefit from an early advantage, or slower Pokémon whom you don’t expect to last long in battle but you want it to make as much of an impact as possible before it goes down. And the more types in the Pokémon’s known moves, the more that Pokémon can benefit from Stellar Terastallization.
