The next Pokémon for Surprise Trade is Doduo, a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon introduced all the way back in Generation 1. I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and I didn't go with the Hidden Ability, it has Tangled Feet, and I didn't see it as that interesting, as Tangled Feet raises the Pokémon evasion while it is confused, and I prefer Early Bird on Doduo, Run Away isn't worth going for in battle, they should really change Run Away to make it so that the Pokémon can switch out even against an opponent that knows a trapping move like Mean Look or if the opponent has Shadow Tag, that would give Run Away a use for battles.
The Nature I went with is Jolly, Doduo's best stats are Speed and Attack, and for Egg Moves, it has Sky Attack, Flail, Assurance, and Whirlwind, those can be good to have, Sky Attack is really powerful in the early-game, but the two turns it takes to use the move is a downside to it, and Doduo cannot take hits well.
Doduo's early moves are Growl and Peck, and for level up moves, it can get Quick Attack, Fury Attack, Pluck, Double Hit, Agility, Uproar, Acupressure, Swords Dance, Drill Peck, Endeavor, and Thrash. It evolves into Dodrio at Level 31 and learns Tri Attack upon evolution.
To go over what Dodrio learns through TMs, it can get Low Kick, Acrobatics, Thief, Trailblaze, Pounce, Aerial Ace, Facade, Body Slam, Taunt, Fly, Stomping Tantrum, Drill Run, Tailwind, Baton Pass, Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, Brave Bird, Tera Blast, Knock Off, Lunge, Double-Edge, Feather Dance, and Throat Chop.
Dodrio might have been the best Flying-type Pokémon when going through Red & Blue, but in competitive battling, it struggled against Rock-type Pokémon. With access to coverage moves like Drill Peck, Low Kick, Stomping Tantrum, and Knock Off, as well as Swords Dance to boost its Attack, Dodrio has improved over the generations. Dodrio's role is to hit as hard as it can, and it can go with Choice Band or a Swords Dance set to hit very hard, it has access to some powerful attacks like Double-Edge and Brave Bird, but if you don't like the recoil, you can go for the weaker options in Body Slam and Drill Peck, and it can go with Low Kick with a Fighting Tera Type or Drill Run with a Ground Tera Type to further power up its coverage, or it can stick with Normal or Flying for the Tera Type to further power up Double-Edge or Brave Bird. The Ground Tera Type on Dodrio does give it immunity to the Electric-type moves that would take it out, and Dodrio cannot take hits that well. Its stats are almost comparable to Staraptor's, the difference is that Dodrio has higher Speed, while Staraptor has better HP and Attack and has access to Intimidate to lower the opponent's Attack stat or go with Reckless to increase the power of its Double-Edge and Brave Bird.
Dodrio has no place in Double Battles, because a Pokémon that is a glass cannon is very hard to use as you are dealing with two Pokémon on both sides, and it cannot withstand that many hits from the opposing side. It faces competition with Tornadus, Whimsicott, or Murkrow which can set up Tailwind, and there are already better Flying-type options like Talonflame, Galarian Zapdos, Flamigo, and many others which can be put to good use better than Dodrio ever could.
For its performance in Tera Raid Battles, Dodrio can get Swords Dance and Acrobatics, but it will require it to not hold an item, which means it will need team support as Dodrio cannot withstand that many hits, best teammates are those that know Life Dew or Heal Pulse for support, that way Dodrio can stay in the battle for longer.
It is a great Pokémon when going through the game, and when going through its level up moves, it has Quick Attack and Peck early on, and it learns Pluck at Level 15, and once Doduo has evolved into Dodrio, it can get Swords Dance and Drill Peck, Doduo's evolution can be held off till Level 33 for Swords Dance and 36 for Drill Peck compared to Dodrio which respectively learns them at Level 34 and Level 38, but it can get Acrobatics to work for its Flying-type move till then. Dodrio can make use of many coverage options like Trailblaze, Stomping Tantrum, and Low Kick, it is an excellent Flying-type when going through the game, it can even work as a Normal-type with access to Body Slam and Double-Edge through TMs, but for Pokémon with the Normal/Flying-type, most players use them for their Flying-type.
