It is back to Shining Pearl yet again, and in this video, I show the Legendary Pokémon that are exclusive to Shining Pearl, and you might notice that I have a lot of Apricorn Balls, to get Apricorn Ball, you need to have purchased Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl on Amazon, I don't know if you can do it now, but that was how you were able to get them, they cannot be obtained normally, you would get a code to get two of each, and as for why I have so many of them, it was through the cloning glitch, which has been patched out, but at the time I recorded this video, the cloning glitch had not been patched out, and it was a good way to get a lot of the good items, and Apricorn Balls are very rare, and that was where the cloning glitch came in, I wish they would stop patching that glitch out, specially in a game where TMs are one use, and it is not easy to get multiple copies of some TMs. I try to see if I can catch the Legendary Pokémon in those kinds of Poké Balls, it can be tricky, but I do like having Legendary Pokémon in Poké Balls that kind of match the colour scheme in some way.
In Shining Pearl, you would find the Kanto Room, you require Kanto Slates in order to enter the room, and you would encounter the Legendary Birds, and I will go over them in numerical order, not when I encountered them in this video.
Articuno is Ice/Flying, its Hidden Ability is Snow Cloak, and its moves are Hurricane, Mind Reader, Blizzard, and Sheer Cold, that can be dangerous if it uses Mind Reader and Sheer Cold if you have Pokémon below Level 70, and while Ultra Balls or Timer Balls are recommended, I will be attempting the catch the Legendary Pokémon in different Poké Balls than those.
Articuno is the worse out of the Legendary Bird Trio, I know it is not a good thing to say to a Legendary Pokémon, this is because Articuno is 4x weak to Rock, and it has very limited coverage, Ice Beam and Hurricane are all it can use, and while it has high Special Defense, Ice is a terrible defensive type, Articuno is unviable in the competitive scene, while it's understandable for something like Kricketune to not have viability, Articuno is a Legendary Pokémon, and that does not sound right when a Legendary Pokémon has no usability even in the lower tiers in competitive battling, and it's unfortunate, because Articuno used to be really overpowered in Gen 1 back when Blizzard used to be 90% accurate and had a 30% chance of freezing the target.
The next one is Zapdos, its Hidden Ability is Static, which is a great Ability for it, and it has Thunder, Detect, Magnetic Flux, and Zap Cannon, it cannot damage Ground-type Pokémon. As for stats, Zapdos has good Speed and Special Attack, and Thunderbolt is its main move in battle, it cannot learn Hurricane or Heat Wave in this game, which were Zapdos's best moves in online battles, it can use Volt Switch and Roost to go with a defensive set, and it can use Defog to remove entry hazards, but that's about it, I am sure players are waiting for Pokémon HOME in order to get Heat Wave on Zapdos.
Then the Fire/Flying-type Moltres, its Hidden Ability is Flame Body, a good Ability for it, and its moves are Hurricane, Endure, Burn Up, and Sky Attack, if Moltres uses Burn Up, it loses the Fire-type, and it can only use that move once. Moltres has a good Special Attack stat, and it can use moves like Flamethrower and Hurricane for its main moves, Moltres is excellent in sun teams with Solar Beam, but it would decrease Hurricane's accuracy, making Air Slash more reliable, Moltres can even use Roost when you want to go defensively, although the lack of Heavy-Duty Boots does hinder it in battle with that 4x weakness to Rock.
I show the Squall Room, which is where you can get Lugia, it is exclusive to Shining Pearl, and for stats, Lugia has very high Special Defense, and it has a great Defense stat, it can take hits very well, its Hidden Ability of Multiscale decreases the damage Lugia takes by 50% if it is at full HP, its moves are Extrasensory, Recover, Aeroblast, and Rain Dance, it has Recover, which is a move that I hate dealing with when catching a Legendary Pokémon.
As for moves, Lugia can learn Calm Mind to pair up with Aeroblast and other Special moves like Psychic, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, and Shadow Ball, it cannot learn Earth Power in this game, and it can use Recover to heal off the damage, this works well with its Multiscale, and that way Lugia can last very long in battle. It can't learn Toxic in this game, which is not good for Pokémon that work defensively, and it can use Roar or Whirlwind when paired up with a teammate that knows Stealth Rock or Spikes, that can work with Lugia's good defensive stats. It is a good thing they gave Hidden Abilities to the Legendary Pokémon you catch in Ramanas Park, this does save a use of an Ability Patch, and Lugia is one of those Pokémon that prefers having its Hidden Ability over its regular Ability.
