I am playing through Classic Mode with Dark Pit, the Echo Fighter of Pit, and when I randomized the list, which is what I do for my Classic Mode videos, I have 5 characters left, the playlist will display the fighters in order of how they are displayed on the roster, and if Echo Fighters were sorted by reveal, Dark Pit would be the hardest, because even though he was teased at the end of Palutena's reveal trailer, which means he would be placed between her and Pac-Man on the roster, he was not confirmed playable in that trailer, which means he would be placed between Shulk and Bowser Jr., as Dark Pit was not confirmed to be playable till the release of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. Dark Pit's Classic Mode route is Created Warriors, and his opponents on that route are characters that are artificial creations or were genetically enhanced, likely because Dark Pit is a clone of Pit and was created.
To unlock Dark Pit, there are many different ways, one of them is through Vs. Matches, where Dark Pit is the 54th character to be unlocked, and he is the last character unlocked by completing Classic Mode with Samus or anyone in her unlock tree after Wario.
In Round 1, you fight against Mewtwo on Spear Pillar, in Round 2, your opponent is Dark Samus, another character that has Dark in their name, which wouldn't be the case in Japanese, because Dark Pit was called Black Pit in Japanese, the stage is Frigate Orpheon. In Round 3, you fight three Links on Temple, they use the Dark Link alternate costume, in Round 4, your opponent is Cloud, and you fight him on Midgar. In Round 5, you fight against Captain Falcon, and the stage is Big Blue, Captain Falcon uses his Blood Falcon alternate costume, as Blood Falcon is a clone of Captain Falcon. In Round 6, you fight against Pit, and the stage is Palutena's Temple, which could reference Dark Pit's rivalry with Pit in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Next up is the Bonus Stage, and at the end, you fight against Galleom, which is a robot and it goes with the artificial creation theme of Dark Pit's Classic Mode route, and you team up with Pit as a CPU Ally in that fight.
After beating Galleom, that is Classic Mode done, and the credits will roll, the music is Dark Pit's Theme, and you then earn the Fighter Spirit for Dark Pit if you completed Classic Mode with him for the first time.
