I am playing through Classic Mode with Piranha Plant, the first DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but it was not part of any of the Fighters Passes. What I do is I randomize a list to decide my next characters, and when I randomized the list, I had 5 characters left, Piranha Plant is the 3rd character remaining, that means I have two characters left after that, the playlist will display fighters in order of how they are displayed on the roster. Piranha Plant's Classic Mode route is New Bloom, and all of its opponents are newcomers to the base roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and all of the newcomers are fought in order of how they are displayed on the roster, and with the exception of the first battle, an Echo Fighter would be fought alongside the newcomer, usually from the same series or in the same reveal trailer as that newcomer.
As Piranha Plant is a DLC character, if you completed Classic Mode with it but have not unlocked any characters, it would use Mario's unlock tree, the same goes for every other DLC character.
In Round 1, you fight against 8 Inklings, all of them use different alternate costumes, and the stage is Moray Towers in Battlefield Form, in Round 2, you fight Ridley and Dark Samus, and the stage is Norfair, Dark Samus being from the same series as Ridley. In Round 3, you fight against Simon and Richter, and the stage is Dracula's Castle, Richter was revealed at the same time as Simon. In Round 4, you fight King K. Rool and Chrom, and the stage is Pirate Ship, these two don't share anything in common, Chrom could be picked likely because he was revealed in the same Smash Direct as King K. Rool. In Round 5, your opponents are Isabelle and Daisy, and the stage is Smashville, while not from the same series, Isabelle was in Mario Kart 8, which could be the reason why you would fight Daisy in that match as well. In Round 6, your opponents are Incineroar and Ken, and the stage is Boxing Ring, referencing their reveal trailer, where Ken was shown fighting Little Mac on Boxing Ring, and then Incineroar shows up in that same reveal trailer, and this is a Free-for-All.
Next is the Bonus Stage, and at the end, you fight against Rathalos, which could fit in with the theme where Piranha Plant's opponents are newcomers, and Rathalos being a new boss in this game, and Monster Hunter has never been represented in Smash before Ultimate, well aside from being a Mii Costume in Super Smash Bros. 4.
After that, the credits will roll, and the music is Underground Theme - Super Mario Bros., which does go with Piranha Plant very well, and you then earn the Fighter Spirit for Piranha Plant for completing Classic Mode with it for the first time.
