I chose the Pokémon for this week's Surprise Trade, and as Pokémon Legends: Arceus had just come out, I decided to do a Pokémon that gained a new evolution in that game, and that Pokémon is Basculin. I will be trading both Red-Striped and Blue-Striped Basculin, and I did read there was a new Basculin form somewhere, I have not looked up too much on Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but I have heard that the new Basculin form is the one that evolves into Basculegion, I'm not going to give away how to evolve Basculin, but I decided to trade that Pokémon as a tie-in to Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
As usual, I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and Basculin has an Adamant Nature, and I went with Adaptability, Basculin can have Rock Head or Reckless based on its form, and I didn't go with the Hidden Ability of Mold Breaker, because Adaptability is too good to pass on.
Basculin only has two Egg Moves, it can learn Bubble Beam and Endeavor, I will list which parents in the Water 2 Egg Group that can learn those moves.
Bubble Beam: Chinchou, Lanturn, Remoraid, Octillery
Endeavor: Wishiwashi

Not the best moves, and only two, at least I did breed some Egg Moves onto the Basculin. I will not be going over Basculegion in this video, or Pokémon Legends: Arceus, because most of the Pokémon learn different moves than in the main series games, so Basculin cannot evolve in this game.
Basculin has Water Gun and Tail Whip for its starting moves, it can learn Tackle, Flail, Aqua Jet, Bite, Scary Face, Headbutt, Soak, Crunch, Take Down, Final Gambit, Aqua Tail, Thrash, Double-Edge, and Head Smash.
Then for Basculin's TM and TR moves, for TMs, it can learn Dive, Revenge, Mud Shot, Bounce, Ice Fang, Assurance, and some other moves, and for TRs, it can learn Waterfall, Agility, Reversal, Taunt, Superpower, Zen Headbutt, Psychic Fangs, and Liquidation, and it can learn Flip Turn and Scale Shot for Tutor moves.
While Basculin isn't commonly used online, or in the competitive scene, it is quite powerful in the lower tiers, and with Adaptability, it can deal massive damage with Liquidation, and it does get some solid coverage moves in Superpower, Crunch, Psychic Fangs, and Bounce, and it can use Flip Turn to switch out of battle. Basculin does face competition with other Water-type Pokémon, like Gyarados, Azumarill, and Dracovish as a Physical Attacker, although I don't know if we'll ever see Basculegion in Generation 9, or any future Pokémon games, it would be good to see how Basculegion would work in the competitive scene, or if those new Pokémon in Legends will end up only being in that game.
Basculin might be a threat in the lower-tiers, in Double Battles it isn't easy to add to your team when Gyarados is already that powerful to begin with. I might go over how Basculegion would work in the competitive scene, but I won't go over what its stats are and what moves it can get in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but I will speculate what it would get in the main series games, and likely use Basculin's moves as an example, Basculegion would have Adaptability and it would be able to use Liquidation for some huge damage, while Crawdaunt does have Adaptability and can also learn Aqua Jet, which Basculin can use for priority, for a Ghost-type move, there aren't too many good Physical Ghost-type moves, and I don't know how likely Basculegion would be able to learn Poltergeist, otherwise Phantom Force is a decent move, and if it has a decent Special Attack stat, it could be a good Mixed Attacker and be able to fit in Shadow Ball, but this is just speculation, I didn't want to go too full into detail on what Basculegion can learn and what its stats are, I was going over how it would work in online battles or in competitive battling.
