Here is the limited time Wild Area event, it will be from February 4th till February 8th, and there is a special reward you get based on how many players defeat Cramorant, which is one of the Pokémon that is part of the Wild Area event. There is a very rare chance of finding a guaranteed Shiny Cramorant in the Max Raid Battles, and Cramorant is not the only Pokémon that is part of the event, you can also encounter Flygon, Golurk, Quagsire, and Indeedee as well, and this event ties in with the most recent Pokémon Movie called Secrets of the Jungle.
For rewards, if 500,000 players defeat Cramorant, all players will receive a Flame Orb, Toxic Orb, and Light Ball, and if 1,000,000 players defeat Cramorant, all players receive a Gold Bottle Cap, 3 Bottle Caps, and 3 Pearl Strings, so those are some good rewards you can get.
At first, I thought you would have to fight a Level 100 Cramorant in the Max Raid Battles, much like with Zeraora back when it was in the Max Raid Battles, but it turns out there is no Level 100 Cramorant, the highest level it can be obtained at is Level 60, and I would recommend preparing your best Electric-type Pokémon to deal with it, and on Serebii.net, Cramorant has a 48% chance of appearing in Max Raid Battles, Flygon is 20%, and the rest are 10%, and the Shiny Cramorant is 2%.
I could go over the Pokémon in the Max Raid Battles, and starting things off is Cramorant, it is a very gimmicky Flying/Water-type Pokémon with very average stats, but it has a unique Ability called Gulp Missile where it has a different effect based on Cramorant's remaining HP, and when it uses Surf or Dive, it will come back with prey, if its HP is above 50%, it will have an Arrokuda in its throat, and if Cramorant is hit by an attack, it will spit Arrokuda out and drop the target's Defense, if Cramorant's HP is below 50%, it will have a Pikachu stuck in its throat, and when it spits Pikachu out, that will paralyze the opponent, I have seen players use Endure and a Salac Berry with Cramorant so that they are ensured to go first with Surf, and then finish off the paralyzed foe with Surf, and then use Endure to paralyze the next Pokémon, and it does get some decent coverage options like Ice Beam, Hurricane, Superpower, Throat Chop, and many other moves.
Next up is Flygon, while it has faced with Garchomp throughout the generations, and with Garchomp back in this game, Flygon has had a tough time keeping up, but it does have fairly good Attack and Speed, which compared to most of the top tier attackers, it isn't that high enough to be a top tier Pokémon. Flygon did at least get Dragon Dance in Gen 7, and it does get some good moves like Outrage, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Superpower, U-turn, and many other moves, so it is at least a decent Ground/Dragon-type Pokémon, and Levitate is a really good Ability to have.
Then we have the Ground/Ghost-type Golurk, while it has a really high Attack stat, it is a bit on the slow side, but it does make Golurk a good user of the Weakness Policy when Dynamaxed, as Golurk does have a lot of weaknesses to some common types. Its Hidden Ability of No Guard is really useful with moves like Dynamic Punch and Stone Edge, and its main STAB moves when using it are Poltergeist and Earthquake. Iron Fist on Golurk is a viable option, as it can use the Elemental Punches, Shadow Punch, Hammer Arm, Drain Punch, and many other moves, and it does have some good coverage options, like Heavy Slam, Low Kick, Close Combat, Gyro Ball, Zen Headbutt, Heat Crash, Darkest Lariat, and many other moves, if Golurk had like base 95 Special Attack instead of 55, then it could be a decent Mixed Attacker, as it learns some really good Special Attacks, but the stat is really low, so it can't make use of any of them.
Next is Quagsire, and while its stats aren't that high to be a top-tier Pokémon, it has seen use in Ubers, this is because of its Hidden Ability of Unaware, and Quagsire does have good HP and Defense to put its Ability to good use. Most sets use Scald or Toxic to inflict status conditions, Recover to heal off the damage, and Earthquake to fill in the last slot, some Quagsire sets use Earth Power, but then again it is not meant to be an attacker, but it is surprising to see a Pokémon with a Base Stat total of 430 see use in the Uber Tier, well Quagsire isn't an Uber Pokémon, it is in UU, but it has seen use in Ubers.
The last one out of the event Pokémon is Indeedee, its Hidden Ability of Psychic Surge has made Indeedee really popular in Double Battles, the female can use Follow Me, and it gets access to Expanding Force, making it a really good attacker, the male Indeedee is more offensive. Even if Tapu Lele does outclass Indeedee, the difference is that Indeedee can learn Expanding Force, while Tapu Lele cannot. If Tapu Lele was able to learn Expanding Force, that thing would be banned to Ubers, but at least Indeedee has seen top usage in Double Battles throughout this generation.
